The Tea Party is quickly coming into its own as a force. So far the most used measure of the possible impact of the Tea Party has been the sheer number of people at the various Tea Party gatherings, but there is only one metric of gravitas that matters in politics -- money raised.
This from StarnewsOnline.com:
Pantano, the Republican former Marine battling the Democrat McIntyre in North Carolina's 7th Congressional District, said his campaign has raised more than $850,000 to date, with nearly three weeks remaining before Election Day.
"We're on our way to raising $1 million," Pantano said.
Pantano said his receipts include more than $460,000 in the third quarter.
This comes on the heels of other candidates like
- Cristine Odonell's $4 million since the primary,
- Kristi Noem's $1.1 million in the third quarter
- Michele Bachman's (R-MN) $5.4 million in the third quarter,
- Sharron Angle's $14 million in the last three months,
- And don't forget Scott Brown's 15.2 Million.
