Rep. Bob Eheridge, Mike McIntyre, Larry Kissell and Heath Shuler are in Play -- NRO...

Although I have focused on Brad Miller, I have given attention to Etheridge, McIntyre and Kissell. Shuler, however, has gotten none of my attention.

Based on nothing but my gut is seems GK Butterfield will likely get a pass this election season despite his awful record on liberty.

Finally, considering their disdain for the wishes of their constituents over the last two years and their current round of attack ads, I believe Brad Miller, and David Price to be weaker than they appear despite the paucity of polling data.

Vulnerable house seats via NRO:

NC-2: It’s rather fascinating that no one has polled this district featuring neck-grabbing Democrat incumbent Bob Etheridge and GOP challenger Renee Ellmers since June. That poll had Ellmers ahead by one. There’s been a lot of outside group spending in this district.

NC-7: A late September poll found GOP challenger Ilario Pantano leading incumbent Democrat Mike McIntyre by one point.

NC-8: Civitas puts incumbent Democrat Larry Kissell one point ahead of GOP challenger Harold Johnson.

NC-11: Civitas put incumbent Democrat Heath Shuler one point ahead of Republican challenger Jeff Miller.

Regarding the Ellmers/Etheridge campaign for (NC-2) NewsObserver had this to say:

As the midterm campaigns turn toward the home stretch, Republican challenger Renee Ellmers is out raising incumbent U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge in North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District.

Etheridge's campaign maintains a big lead in contributions for the election cycle, reporting $1.16 million to Ellmers' $452,000. It also has a huge advantage in cash on hand, $448,788 to Ellmers' $99,461.

But in the three months ended Sept. 30, Ellmers' campaign raised $264,000 to Etheridge's $250,000. Given the advantages of incumbency, Ellmers said, that edge is a measure of voters' unhappiness with the way business is done in Washington.

  1. Completely agree that more seats are up for grabs than expected. Early voting seems to suggest that these will be close races until the end. I'm really not surprised that your gut is giving you the sense that Butterfield will walk away very easily.

Given this political climate I was really hoping to see a real candidate emerge against Butterfield who was able to forcefully stick with the issues that really matter to people in eastern North Carolina.

Ashley Woolard has been a complete disappointment - half effort; doesn't live in the district; half-baked ideas; and questionable campaign finance expenses. On the campaign finance stuff, Woolard's campaign spent $748.87 on a suit and another $100 on a shirt and tie.

Are you kidding me? You can't point an accusing ethics finger at Butterfield a month after your campaign committee spends $850 suit, shirt and tie! Even a political novice should be remember the Palin campaign clothing scandal.

If you're going to be a higher ground, moral, fiscal conservative, this is not the kind of amateur hour move to make. I'm certain the vote will reflect the quality of this candidate. Maybe next time.

If we're going to demand high standards, we have to live by that standard. When our candidates fail us, we can't make excuses or turn a blind eye. I'm truly upset by this and as we work to elect a true conservative, I am certain other people will be equally disappointed that this is all we had to work with.

  2. You are posing as a conservative in an effort to raise your credibility, but you failed...

Only a liberal would refer to the media spin suffered by Sarah Palin as though it were fact and then go on to argue against Woolard referencing that media spin.

Woolard is a good man taking on a politician who practices immoral governance in a district safely gerrymandered to his extremism. Such gerrymandered districts, like those of David Price, Brad Miller, Bob Etheridge, and Mel Watt are needle in the eye of the citizenry and proper moral governance.

I understand that liberals have no record to run on, but I suggest arguing substantial political concerns rather than clothing would be a wise choice on your part.

    You belittle your party.

  3. Check yourself, check the facts and then look in the mirror. These are facts not media spin. Why can't we look at our own candidates with a critical eye? The whole idea of this movement isn't to simply get incumbents out of office, but to replace them with people with high ideals. Pretending that something different is something better is foolhardy. The only one "posing" here is you, Frog. A true conservative will look at the facts with critical eye no matter the outcome - in the name of truth. We have a deeply flawed candidate whose only record consists of the campaign finance documents being filed, and if this is what we can come to expect, we have failed as a party.

  4. Point me to one of these "facts". This is your argument and thus your job, not mine.

You are likely a simple mouth piece for the gentried elite of American politics pissing on our system of power arising from the people. I am proud that Amaricans have the balls to run against "The Man" and find the idea that representatives should have decades of representation as a job reference as abhorrent.

    Here is a fact:
You are not just a poser, your are a purveyor of Disinformation straight from DC.
