I am currently engaged in a Snoopy Happy Dance for Renee Ellmers.

Via WWAY:
State Board of Elections director Gary Bartlett said Friday that a recount in the 2nd Congressional District has found that Ellmers defeated Democratic Rep. Bob Etheridge by about 1,500 votes.

Severe Poll Turnout Trouble for Rep. Brad Miller (NC-13), David Price (NC-4), Bob Etheridge (NC-2), GK Butterfield (NC-1)...

polifrog

Bye, Brad Miller
Bye, David Price
Bye, Bob Etheridge

Gallup:

Taking Gallup's final survey's margin of error into account, the historical model predicts that the Republicans could gain anywhere from 60 seats on up, with gains well beyond that possible.

It should be noted, however, that this year's 15-point gap in favor of the Republican candidates among likely voters is unprecedented in Gallup polling and could result in the largest Republican margin in House voting in several generations. This means that seat projections have moved into uncharted territory, in which past relationships between the national two-party vote and the number of seats won may not be maintained.

Week 5 -- Last poll by Gallup before the Nov 2 election found here. Advantage remains Republican with extremely modest slide back in the Republican direction. The weakening seen in week 4 has been stemmed.

Under the high voter turnout:
Week (5): 42 /52
Week (4): 43 /52
Week (3): 42 / 53
Week (2): 41 / 53
Week (1): 40 / 53

Under the low voter turnout:
Week (5): 40 / 55
Week (4): 41 / 55
Week (3): 39 / 56
Week (2): 39 / 56
Week (1): 38 / 56

For reference to Gallup's predictive ability I give this via Morning Jay of weeklystandard.com:

Finally, if you assume Brad Miller, David Price, and Bob Etheridge are in "safe" seats, then think again. RCP puts Ethridge in "Leans Dem." and both Miller and Price in "Likely Dem."

The point is, these guys are weak, none have a "safe" seat, so don't let yourself be convinced otherwise and let inertia get the better of you.

Rep. Bob Etheridge (NC-2) -- Touting Affordable Housing or Just Pushing Unaffordable Loans?...

polifrog

What is affordable housing?

Both Brad Miller (D-13) and "Who are you?" Bob Etheridge (D-2) were in Zebulon, North Carolina basking in the glow of their stimulus housing funds.

According to Eastern Wake News Brad Miller had this to say:

Miller said affordable housing is an important goal in troubling times for the industry. He said “old-fashioned greed” and banking lending practices caused the downward spiral that has led to record numbers of foreclosures.

...

“If you find yourself in a foreclosure, you’ve lost your membership in the middle class and for many of those families, they’ll never get it back,” said Miller.

“We have to reinvent our financial system,” he said.

Miller noted that it wasn’t affordable housing that got the country in trouble and that it still needs to be a priority.

[emphasis added]

What is affordable housing?

Historically (past 10-15 years) housing was made more affordable by reducing the down payments required to qualify for a loan. This is otherwise known as less skin in the game. It worked! People were able to get loans (homes in Brad Miller's parlance) they would not have otherwise been able to afford. This is an affordable home to Brad Miller.

But to someone living outside the political class, to a real American, Brad Miller's vision is better known as an unaffordable loan. These unaffordable loans were scattered across the US and they caused an economic downturn that rivals the Great Depression.

Still, Brad Miller keeps coaxing people into his unaffordable loans through bills like H.R. 5409, The Residential Construction Lending Act which he introduced this year, while simultaneously laying blame for his similar past failed policies on a loan industry intimately regulated by Washington Bureaucrats and back stopped by Washington through Fannie and Freddie.

For real Americans Brad Miller's vision has resulted in the "Miller Homes" below; truly affordable homes made possible through Brad Miller's unaffordable loans:

Rep. Bob Etheridge (NC-2) On Cap and Tax (Trade)

polifrog

Bob Etheridge supports and has voted in favor of Cap and Tax (Trade).

Aside from decimating American industry in a false effort to avert Global Warming....

Yea, that Global Warming....How does this bill directly effect the individual?

Within the endless pages of legal ease of the bill is a little ditty that has a detrimental effect on home owners. It, of course, would not only impact home owners but everyone who rents as well, as the owners of the units would pass the increased costs on to the renter. Ok, by that reasoning, it effects anyone who chooses to live in a shelter of any kind.

It does this by requiring property owners to upgrade their homes to meet predetermined efficiency standards. Replacing all windows, upgraded insulation, new furnaces , new water heaters, and new appliances would be required before a home owner would be allowed to sell their home. Least you think this would be a one shot upgrade, remember that advances in efficiency would keep the inspectors returning prior to every sale.

Thought experiment...You've lost your job and have been having difficulty with the mortgage. You need to sell your home...fast. The government efficiency inspector, though, reports in their leisurely way that you need $20,000 in upgrades before you can sell your home and get out from under the mortgage. Your already broke and unlikely able to get a loan for $20,000. You default on your loan. Thank Bob Etheridge.

Thought experiment...You own a rental property you wish to sell and are forced to make one of two decisions. Whether it is a duplex or an apartment complex does not matter. You are considering selling, but selling would mean raising the rents on your tenants to make the expensive Bob Etheridge mandated upgrades to your rental. Your other option is to sit on the property in which case Bob Etheridge's efficiency mandates force you to add to the locking up of the real estate market. Bad for renters, bad for owners, bad for real estate, bad for America.

This is just a tiny facet of Cap and Trade and it is what Bob Etheridge wishes to impose on all Americans.

Politicians like Bob Etheridge believe that their party having been falsely defined as protectors of the poor will shield them from the wrath of the poor and middle class who will shoulder the burden of Cap and Trade. And remember Cap and Trade it is argued will protect us from the hoax that is global warming. This is government intrusion and nothing more.

Bob Etheridge a grade school economist who is truly bad for NC and America.

Rep. Brad Miller, Bob Etheridg, David Price, GK Butterfield, and Mel Watt -- Breaking the Common Bonds Through ObamaCare...

polifrog

---I wrote this in reply to a comment and thought it would make a good post on a slow news day.---

I was at a roadside watermelon stand earlier this summer. A third fellow by the name of Obama strolled up as I was about to buy a peach of a watermelon from the vendor. He said, "Hold on, let me take that $5 and buy that melon for you."

"OK. what could be the harm?" I said, and let the money slide into his left hand which he had oddly nicknamed "The Insurance Industry". He immediately took off and he dashed from one milling customer to the other attempting to influence them with his new stash. During all the scurrying he managed to flick three dollars into a nearby creek for what he deemed to be "future investment". This seemed slushy to me, but whatever.

Eventually he returned to the watermelon vendor and gave him a $1.50. Fifty cents had disappeared beyond the $3 of "future investment".

At this point Obama forced the watermelon vendor to hand me and another fellow, who had yet to spend a dime, each a watermelon off the vendor's table of week old melons that were normally half price. With that, he then had the audacity to claim he had created one free watermelon.

End result....

  • Despite the fact that the vendor had lost money, I was pissed off at him for handing me a crap melon.
  • The vendor, for his part, was perplexed to the point of frustration by my anger; as far as he could tell I never paid him for the melon he gave me.
  • Although the vendor continued to kiss this Obama Character's ass in an effort to retain future business, he was pissed at being forced to operate at a loss until he realized he no longer needed to keep a supply of the best watermelons to retain his market.
  • For Obama's part, between visits to collect more money for my next melon, the price of which had already risen to $15, he was too busy picking lobster from his teeth to notice the dischord he had created, nor did he have the inclination to hear my complaints.

Breaking the bonds of economic transaction yields hate between citizens and is the result of immoral governance.

Democrat Congresses = Budget Deficits - Fire Rep. Brad Miller, Rep. Bob Etheridge, Rep. GK Butterfield, Rep David Price, Rep Mel Watt...

polifrog

With the fact that we are going to the polls this Tuesday and all house seats are up for grabs it is wise to understand that it is the house that controls the nation's budget.

There are not "Clinton Surpluses"; Newt's congress forced the surpluses on him, neither are there "Bush Deficits" as Pelosi forced the majority of deficits on him during his final two years. Presidents do not control the nation's purse, congress does. Allowing this meme, that presidents have surpluses and deficits, only decreases accountability.

There are, in fact, Republican Congressional Surpluses and Perpetual Democrat Congressional deficits.

It is in this nation's interest to know which party is the party of fiscal responsibility and which party does not understand that Keynesian Theory is a failure.

Rep Bob Etheridge (NC-2) Diving beyond Debt and Morality

polifrog

It is a no-brainer....free is expensive, while a cost is less so.

This is a result of a duality in human nature, industriousness and laziness. Assuming a basis in law and property rights societies organized such that they harness the industriousness of humanity find wealth, while societies organized such that laziness is coaxed from their citizenry, yield poverty.

Here is why...

---Situation 1
A person spends their own money.
In this case a person sells a piece of their time on earth to earn money. With those dollars that person naturally makes judicious choices in respect to the spending of those dollars. When the whole of society spends judiciously and wisely, the resulting pressure on suppliers forces them to produce what end users want and forces the costs of goods to drop. Thus a cost makes a society efficient, lean, inexpensive, and above all moral.

---Situation 2
A person spends money that person did not earn.
The value of the dollars in such a person's possession are lessened as they are unearned dollars. That person will, by nature, not spend those dollars as judiciously as the individual in situation 1, but they do spend the dollars on those things they need and desire. This lessens the pressure on suppliers to keep costs down and efficiencies high, but, at least, the suppliers cater to the needs of society. We see this in charity. We also see it in the form of welfare.

---Situation 3
A person spends dollars they did not earn and they spend those dollars on others.
This is the worst of the three situations. The value of the dollars to the spender is less than in situation 1, but the impact of these dollars on society are worse than in situation 2. In this case the dollars are not spent by the end user, but rather a middle man whose interests are not interests of the end user, thus the suppliers cater not to the end user, but to the middle man. This skews what is produced by the producers away from the needs of the end user and toward the middleman, but most perniciously, this situation turns the end user into, not just a business cost, but an unproductive business cost to be minimized. Lastly, too much of this situation in combination with situation 2 results is a very inefficient society that leads to impoverishment as the price of goods rise. The citizenry, of course, still pays for the goods through their ever increasing taxes. Breaking the back of capitalism by divorcing the influence of the end user over the producers. In a word...immoral.

Unfortunately, our country is now saddled with a Situation 3 program in ObamaCare. Government will be buying goods for people with other people's money. Somehow Brad Miller and Barak Obama believe immorally restructuring our health-care so that the end user becomes an unproductive business cost is the bees knees.

Bob Etheridge does not understand that Situation 1 economics created the wealth we enjoy through its moral application of human industriousness. Bob Etheridge's support for ObamaCare suggests his support for the immorality of Situation 3 economics, increased debt, and national lethargy.

As an immoral situation 3 program, ObamaCare is inherently inefficient and immensely costly to a society, but President Obama had this to say by way of ABC....
President Barack Obama says he did a full court press for a health care system remake because "this country was going to go bankrupt."
How can a president expect anyone to believe such blithering nonsense? He may as well be convincing the citizens of the US that Guam is in danger of capsizing.

Considering that much of Washington's current budget will be funded through debt spending, and the addition of ObamaCare will serve to exacerbate the problem, we should consider a 4th spending situation not mentioned by Milton Friedman. The moral bankruptcy required to lead a nation in this direction is almost beyond comprehension, yet Bob Etheridge finds a way in situation 4.

---Situation 4
A person spends dollars (not yet earned and not yet taxed from the unborn) on the currently living (for votes).
This combines the worst of situations 2 and 3 and then removes a representative's accountability to their voter's wallets. There is no accountability when a representative is picking the wallet of the unborn.

I guess it is a small thing, though, for Brad Miller to pick the wallets of the unborn when he supports the picking of their lives by way of abortion.

Rep Bob Etheridge (NC-2) - A Child Dabbling in Economics...

polifrog

From Fabius Maximus:

After three years neither the public nor many of our leaders see the driver of the housing crisis: we built too many homes. In some places (e.g., Las Vegas, California’s central valley) far in excess of any real demand. Outmigration from mismanaged and dying urban areas (e.g., Detroit) caused more over-capacity. Supercharging the bubble was the purchase of homes by people who could not afford the prices paid. But overcapacity was the primary driver.
[emphasis added]

The obvious nature of this statement is lost on Bob Etheridge, who in an act of comedic brilliance (were it not so tragic) campaigned with Brad Miller and touted H.R. 5409, the Residential Construction Lending Act this summer.

Rep. Bob Etheridge's (NC-2) Self Serving Vision for Health-Care...

polifrog

It is a vision in which the recipients of health-care become a cost and government becomes the customer, a system in which the health-care industry grovels at the feet of the source of its funding - bureaucrats, while the infirmed wait in line for the chance to beg for the health-care they paid recalcitrant bureaucrats for.

Bob Etheridge's vision of better health-care inserts himself between my doctor and myself through insurance companies.

Eventually, though, the nation will question the existence of the insurance companies and the end result will be the NHS, England's government health-care. Via dailymail.com:

Earlier this year the Government's rationing body said more cuts in medical treatments are planned to save the NHS at least £600million.

Patients could find it harder to get into hospital under plans from the National Institute for health and Clinical Excellence, which advises on drugs and procedures to be funded.
Bob Etheridges vision for Health-Care in the US is to fully break the bond between health-care customer and health-care provider, so that he, governance embodied, will be the one the infirmed come to when in need. He has no medical degree, has taken no Hippocratic oath, yet his governance will be the source of our health-care.

Imagine our need, imagine Bob Etheridge's influence, imagine our lack of recourse...

Health-care has to be paid for out of our pockets. Either it goes directly from our pockets to the health-care industry, or it goes in to the hands of governance then to the health-care industry. The question is...is it more efficient for us to give our dollars directly to those who wish to provide us with a service and retain the power we have as a customer over a provider, than to give those dollars and influence to Bob Etheridge, and be left groveling at his feet when we fear services may be cut.

Bob Etheridge's vision for health-care increases Bob Etheridge's influence while decreasing ours, it strengthens government while weakening America. Under Bob Etheridge's vision Europe's socialist failure will be ours.

Rep. Bob Etheridge (NC-2) -- Arguing Dishonestly for Health-Care Reform....

polifrog

From The Wall Street Journal we hear that Caterpillar Takes a Hit on Health Care...

Caterpillar Inc. said Wednesday it will take a $100 million charge to earnings this quarter to reflect additional taxes stemming from newly enacted U.S. health-care legislation.

Caterpillar was joined by John Deere in announcing their increased health care costs....

Farm equipment maker Deere expects after-tax expenses to rise by $150 million this year as a result of the health care reform law President Barack Obama signed this week.

These expenses are not ultimately born by the corporations. Whether it's a corporate tax, an environmental tax, a health car tax, or the cost of raw materials and labor, expenses are ultimately passed on to the consumer as increased prices for goods. Not only does this make the citizens of the US poorer, but In a global economy this makes American Corporations less competitive and when they are less competitive they provide fewer jobs. (See GM, Ford) This is yet another step in the great wind-down of America fostered by the progressive movement.

There is no free lunch nor is there free health care and running it through the gov. only exacerbates the costs. It seems that Obama believes otherwise. He even claimed that business would see a 3000% reduction in costs with the passage of his plan.

Leaving aside the ignorance in stating that something would reduce costs by over 100%, Obama lied. I realize that in a storm dishonesty one lie can seem inconsequential, but a lie is a lie and should be called out as such.

Bob Etheridge supported this dishonesty, the lie that ObamaCare is a cost savings, with his vote for Obamacare.

North Carolina is better than Bob Etheridge and his support for ObamaCare is an embarrassment for this state. Bob Etheridge is an embarrassment for North Carolina.

Oust Bob Etheridge as NC-2 from office this November.

Brain Trust Rep. Bob Etheridge Raises the Cost of Health Care in America With a Vote...

"So I just got a call from my health insurance provider. My family rates are going up $200/month ... $2400/year per employee effective April 1st. Didn't take long after signing to get this s**t going.

So much for the "my plan will save Americans" $2500/year in Healthcare premiums."

All insurance companies should follow this lead if they wish to keep their businesses in the future. There is no free ride ride, free lunch, or free anything. Ultimately the cost of ObamaCare will be born on the shoulders of all employees. The fact is that the true cost of using heath-care facilities will be hidden from the users driving health-care costs higher as their demands will increase with the apparent decrease in cost. Add to this the fact that ObamaCare mandates Cadillac plans for everyone forcing the cost of the plans higher. Our president has been attempting to sell us a free ride. At one point we referred to this as selling the Brooklyn Bridge.

The reality of our President's lies are becoming apparent more quickly than I anticipated. Obama claimed we would see a 3000% reduction in costs. He lied.

Bob Etheridge voted for ObamaCare. Bob Etheridge supported Obama's lies with that vote. Bob Etheridge sported a poor understanding of economics when he voted for ObamaCare. Bob Etheridge supported Obama's hucksterism when he voted for ObamaCare. Bob Etheridge supported kickbacks when he voted for ObamaCare.

Bob Etheridge should no longer be the representative of NC- 2.

(NC-2) Rep Bob Etheridge's ObamaCare Requires the Tracking of Gold Purchcases....

polifrog

During the Great Depression our government deemed it illegal to own gold and forced the citizens of the US to sell it to them. Via Wikipidia:

Executive Order 6102 required U.S. citizens to deliver on or before May 1, 1933 all but a small amount of gold coin, gold bullion, and gold certificates owned by them to the Federal Reserve, in exchange for $20.67 per troy ounce. Under the Trading With the Enemy Act of October 6, 1917, as amended on March 9, 1933, violation of the order was punishable by fine up to $10,000 ($166,640 if adjusted for inflation as of 2008) or up to ten years in prison, or both.

Wouldn't it have been handy for them to have know who owned gold? With the passage of ObamaCare it has become easier for our government to track owners of gold and force them to give it up if so deemed. Via Numismaster:

Passage by Congress of the national health care legislation has had an unintended consequence to the nation’s coin collectors, vest-pocket dealers who buy and sell coins, and larger dealers who are frequent buyers of coins that collectors periodically liquidate as they trade up their collections for better coins, or simply sell to take a small profit or loss.

What has happened is that effective Jan. 1, 2012, the whole system of giving and receiving Internal Revenue Service 1099 forms will be turned on its head and all persons (including corporations) who are in business will now have to give 1099 tax reporting forms for coins and other goods that they sell as well as buy.

Polifrog doubts that Bob Etheridge knew that ObamaCare would require purchases of gold to be tracked as Bob Etheridge did not have the fortitude to read the ObamaCare bill prior to signing it. Bob Etheridge did lend his support to ObamaCare, though, and is rightfully bound to its awfulness.

Rep. Bob Etheridge - (NC- 2) - Continuing to Pick the Pockets of the Unborn...

Congress doesn't get it. The amendment below passed 418-3. We should remind ourselves that there is currently a glut in housing,
Via WSJ,

It is official: The U.S. is addicted to housing.

...

The bill is called the “Small Business Lending Fund Act of 2010,” and it would extend $30 billion to small banks to facilitate small-business lending. But the last minute amendment, which was sponsored by Democratic Reps. Brad Miller (N.C.), Joe Baca (Calif.) and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (Md.), would allow builders to tap into the $30 billion to build more houses.

For more than two years, banks have practically shut off all financing to small and mid-size home builders as they pare back their exposure to construction and development loans.

Housing sales are down despite low interest rates and bargain prices, yet our leaders keep pumping that Keynesian chicken.

Fiscal responsibility is dead except in the private sector.

And if you wonder how Bob Etheridge intends to ultimately fund this boondoggle, the answer is that he finds it easy to pick the pockets of the unborn, being already accustomed to picking their lives through abortion.

Bob Etheridge (NC-2) -- Passing Law Before it is Defined:

polifrog

One would think a representative would sign off on law that was not only understood but fully defined. That is not the case for Bob Etheride. Understanding what a law is and what it may become does not seem to matter to Bob Etheridge.

ObamaCare supporters touted a new requirement of within ObamaCare for insurers to carry adults of up 26 years old on their parents policy. As awful as the infantilization of adults is, the requirement seemed simple enough.

Now enter policy:

"The new policy applies only to health insurance plans that offer dependent coverage in the first place: while most insurers and employer-sponsored plans offer dependent coverage, there is no requirement to do so," the Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement Monday.
This is an example of law being defined after its passage and is an excellent example of the way Bob Etheridge and his friends Reid, Pelosi and Obama impart the change they desire on our country.

The announcement is part of the administration's effort to translate the new health-care law into more specific regulations. The full meaning of the sweeping legislation will not be known until the regulations are issued.

It is increasingly clear Bob Etheridge voted for ObamaCare without caring how it effected the people of NC. What is not clear is what Bob Etheridge has foisted upon this nation, as ObamaCare has not fully metastasized.

I suspect this is simply another form of governance through Broken Consent, an example of passing a law in the guise of something that is more palatable to the people than the reality that would not be accepted.

Unacceptable governance by Bob Etheridge.

Rep Bob Etheridge (NC-2) -- Political Preening With HR 5409...

polifrog

Bob Etheridge joined Brad Miller in pushing debt on Americans in Zebulon.

Bob Etheridge is pushing a bill (HR 5409) to guarantee construction loans when the market is already saturated with product.

It you want to buy a home, it is a great time to do so considering the low interest rates, the glut of inventory and battered home prices. All this is true without Bob Etheridge's help. Few are buying, though. The market is saying "no!" to new construction, but Brad Miller, ignoring the economic weather, sees a chance to make it appear he is helping America by making construction loans cheaper with an end result of pushing more product on a recalcitrant market.

It is your money folks; it is your debt; it is the debt of your progeny that Bob Etheridge wants to spend on his appearance in HR 5409.

According to Brad Miller,

We can’t tell 16% of the [Gross Domestic Product] to just hang around and wait for a while, says Miller, referring to the housing industry and its economic output.

Unfortunately, more waiting is just what we will have to do with policies like Brad Miller's and Bob Etheridge's.

The market needs to correct for overbuilding and Brad Miller's HR 5409 will only serve to lengthen the time it takes to correct.

Polifrog is a home builder and is tired of waiting for the market to return. Please, Brad Miller, and please Bob Etheridge, stop tying to reinflate a construction bubble, stop your political preening and let us take our lumps so we can move forward.

Of course, government should not take the money in the first place...

Why force the inefficiencies of Taxes on the American economy then run the money through the inefficiencies of governance only to give it back again.

The amateurishness of it all leaves one's head spinning.

Rep. Bob Etheridge -- And the Immorality of the Mandated "Generosity" Called Health Care Reform...

polifrog

Ed Morris said of Rep. Larry Kissell's NO vote on ObamaCare:

The Daily Vampire:It may even cost him his job," Morris said. "But if he can save one life, it's a moral responsibility."

Just how moral is ObamaCare? Let's look at church attendance between nations that compel attendance to those that leave the matter to individual choice.

IN the US. church attendance rates seem wedded to around 44% while in Europe the rates often fall into the single digits depending on the nation. These low rates that plague Europe could easily be rectified by law through the use of mandatory church attendance provisions. If we assume Europe achieves attendance records of near 100% through such measures could it then be argued that Europe is more moral than the US?

The obvious answer is NO. Morality can not be forced onto a people exogenously. Although it may look like morality statistically (a near 100% church attendance), it is not a true morality and negatively affects the church and nation. Religion is cheapened, as a whole, because it is understood that most people are only there to avoid breaking the law at which point the motives of all those who attend church become questionable.

True morality, on the other hand, springs forth from within an individual through voluntary action (40%-50% church attendance in the US) to positively affect the church and nation. Although the percentage of regular church goers is less in the US, those members that choose to attend are more frequently true believers which, in turn, positively affect the respect of the church.

If we now turn to generosity we find that liberals have a penchant for mandating generosity and calling such mandates "moral" even though this is no different than mandating that the citizenry attend church. When Ed Morris says "but if he can save one life, it's a moral responsibility," he is arguing that mandated generosity through ObamaCare is a moral imperative.

In so doing, liberals loose sight of the fact that true generosity, the giving of dollars of love, with love, is lost. The dollars they gather enter the gov. by force and as such are not dollars of love. Those dollars then work their way through the soul crushing machinery of governance. Many of those dollars are skimmed off to run the bureaucracy, while others lube the gears of political leverage and influence. The dollars that remain are soulless and without love or humanity when they finally get into the hands of those who need them. These dollars do not carry with them any sense of goodwill, but are instead dollars for the sake of statistics. Liberals then point to all those soulless dollars as a metric of morality.

Government taxes are increasingly crowding charity. Dollars that may have gone to The March of Dimes or to The Red Cross or may have been used by one individual to help another are instead absorbed by government. Compare the offices of any charity to the the offices of any Government program and ask yourself if the government's overhead is moral. Compare the way dollars are received by the recipient from the gov. to the way they are received from an individual and ask yourself which is more moral. We are witnessing the death of American charity and liberals call that moral.

There is no morality in ObamaCare, only the statistical patina of morality. Legislating morality is in itself immoral and cheapens morality in America just as religion is cheapened in a nation of forced adherents.

By voting for ObamaCare, Bob Etheridge lent his support for immorality, soulless dollars and a cheapening of American morality.

Bob Ethridge (NC-2) -- On the wrong side of history...

polifrog

The economy in Britain and much of the world is in dire straits and it would not be an exaggeration to say we have entered a period of history that far from being a 'crisis of capitalism', historians looking back may well call it the 'crisis of regulatory statism'.

The history of government at this point seems to be little more than a ramping up of governance at the expense of the citizenry. Liberals offer staggering increases in government while pretending to be generous with rights that in reality have little economic impact on anything, while conservatives offer only a slowing of government growth and increasing government power in other more subtle ways. Who offers a return to true liberty of the individual and limited government?

It is not hard to look at the various nations around the world and see that economic vitality follows those nations that adhere to limited government and individual liberty. Even China's stellar growth has come with its moves toward liberty and away from total control.

Nations that were once popping with innovation throughout Europe are now stuck in a bureaucratic nightmare of government overreach and near paralysis through regulation as their citizens continue to loose their liberty and ability to cope with the changing world. As a result the whole of the area has been experiencing an economic spin-down for decades. As for the US, America is following the lead of Europe with Utopianist leaders such as Bob Etheridge.

I can only hope that our form of government which has proven resilient while at the same time quite nimble compared to others throughout the world will pivot and put Bob Etheridge on the wrong side of history.

Rep Bob Etheridge (NC-2) --- Demonstrating a Lack of Mad Econ Skills...

Obama and Bob Etheridge argued that through the miracle of government regulation, taxation, resource allocation and general smartyness of government officials, health-care costs would magically fall, you know, if all those health-care dollars were just passed through the government till.

It would reduce the deficit. It would lessen the costs of heath-care for businesses. It would lessen the burden of health-care costs on all our wallets.

They were wrong.

Edison International said Friday that its first-quarter net income fell as it recorded a charge to reflect the recently enacted federal healthcare overhaul.

Thank you, Bob Etheridge, may we have another?

In a stunning revelation Wednesday, several top U.S. corporations are seriously considering dropping employee health insurance coverage in light of what they see as the inevitable consequence of ObamaCare--skyrocketing costs.

...the companies maintain that ObamaCare will result in a dramatic increase in expenses for providing employee coverage, with added costs skyrocketing to multi-billions of dollars.

Massachusetts medical-device companies say they’ll cut back on operational costs - and jobs - after a planned 2.3 percent tax on their products is implemented in 2013, according to a new survey.

The tax - imposed to help pay for the massive health-care industry overhaul and expansion - is “of the greatest concern” to a majority of its members, the survey found.

About 70 percent of the survey respondents said future innovation will be hurt by a new federal “physician sunshine bill.” The bill will require medical-device firms to report their marketing expenditures on physicians, and a recently passed gift-ban law in Massachusetts.

Thank you Bob Etheridge, may we have another?

Internal documents recently reviewed by Fortune, originally requested by Congress, show what the bill's critics predicted, and what its champions dreaded: many large companies are examining a course that was heretofore unthinkable, dumping the health care coverage they provide to their workers in exchange for paying penalty fees to the government.

That would dismantle the employer-based system that has reigned since World War II. It would also seem to contradict President Obama's statements that Americans who like their current plans could keep them. And as we'll see, it would hugely magnify the projected costs for the bill, which controls deficits only by assuming that America's employers would remain the backbone of the nation's health care system.

Bob Etheridge is a grade school economist who does not base his support for a bill on the rational, but rather on what feels right at the time. No reading, no understanding. It just, you know, FEELS RIGHT.

Let Bob Etheridge know that hurting America and NC-2 hurts individuals, the same individuals he professes to help and send him back to school to learn some basic ECON.
