Conservatives Kill Bill to Help Those Suffering from 9/11 Fumes?...

Here is some pre-election pablum from a drowning Democrat party via The Progressive Pulse:

Four Republican members of North Carolina’s congressional delegation voted Thursday against a bill that would have provided up to $7.4 billion in aid to individuals sickened by the toxic dust from the collapse of the World Trade Center, almost nine years ago.

Rep. G.K. Butterfield, Rep. Bob Etheridge, Rep. Brad Miller, Rep. Walter Jones, Rep. David Price, Rep. Mike McIntyre, Rep. Larry Kissell, and Rep. Heath Shuler voted for the House bill that required a two-thirds vote for approval.

If the Pelosi and Company wanted this bill to pass ...

---Why did it require "a two-thirds vote for approval"?

and

---Why did the bill require us to spend "$7.4 BILLION in aid to individuals sickened by the toxic dust"?

The Democrats set this bill up to fail by forcing the minority of fiscal conservatives who are true to their word to vote against it due to the high price tag and there are enough fiscal conservatives with balls enough to cause this bill to fail given the super majority requirement.

Simple political chicanery prior to an election.

Killing ObamaCare One Horrible Piece at a Time -- Removing 1099 Requirement is a Start....

One of the the more poisonous bits within ObamaCare that went unread in the breathless hours prior to the faux deadlines, was a provision that required 1099 forms to be filed on any expenditure in excess of $600.

The portion above may be repealed. According to KiowaCountySignal.com:

House Republicans yesterday filed a Motion-to-Recommit (MTR) on HR 5893. The MTR would have eliminated this small business reporting requirement that is set to start in 2012.

...

House Democrats responded by pulling HR 5893 from the floor, and submitting it as HR 5982 with the Republican provision included. The provision specifically repeals section 9006 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Let us hope this makes it through the grinding mechanization of governance to implimentation in a repealed ObamaCare.

Unfortunately when the Dems submitted HR-5982 they poisoned it for conservatives with a new tax. Via TaxProfBlog:

House Democrats proposed repealing a piece of the health care overhaul Friday, a move designed to thwart Republican efforts to do the same thing and declare an early victory in their efforts to repeal the whole law.

Democrats proposed repealing new IRS reporting requirements that small business has warned would be overly burdensome. But they attached a new tax on Americans conducting business overseas— essentially a poison pill for Republicans who are unlikely to support a new tax.

The Democrats hold the majority in the house, but it was brought up on a procedural rule requiring two-thirds support. It failed, 241-154, largely on party lines with Republicans in opposition.


It seems the Democrats don't know that politics have changed due to new information dissemination platforms; they are being watched. It is not the 70's any more.

Rep. Brad Miller -- A NO Vote On Dulling a Fetus's Pain Due to Abortion...

Imagine you are about to be executed. Would you want want to reduce the pain of your execution? I seems a natural desire when in that position to want some fashion of pain killer. As an executioner it is only humane to consider the pain of the executed.

But what if instead of being an adult you are a child ... minutes from being born. Your feet are in contact with the air you will soon breath. As you are being exposed to a cold new world your feet are followed by your legs, hips and abdomen. Then, before the moment you are fully born, pain rips through you as your spinal chord is severed at the base of your skull. You have been aborted by a mother who was not aware that the unborn feel pain.

This is a scenario the failed Abortion Pain Bill (HR 6099) was intended to address. According to Project Vote Smart the bill:

-Requires the physician to provide the woman with the following information or material: the approximate age of the fetus/unborn child; the "Unborn Child Pain Awareness Brochure"; the possibility that drugs administered to the mother may not prevent pain for the fetus/unborn child; and risks and costs associated with the use of pain-reducing drugs (Sec. 3).

-Requires the "Unborn Child Pain Awareness Brochure" to state that evidence exists suggesting fetuses/unborn children 20 weeks or more into development are capable of experiencing pain, and that the woman may request pain-reducing drugs for the fetus/unborn child, and that there may be additional risks associated with the use of some pain-reducing drugs (Sec. 3).

-Allows the woman to waive receipt of the brochure by signing an "Unborn Child Pain Awareness Decision Form" (Sec. 3).

This bill failed with the help of Brad Miller. His no vote ensured that mothers remained uneducated about the pain their aborted children endure and forced our unborn to continue to suffer the pain of execution. Death-row inmates receive more sympathy than our children at the hands of Brad Miller.

Would Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy have wished to continue to subject the pain of execution on children? Would you? Brad Miller did.

Rep. Brad Miller -- On Governmental and Social Efficiency Through ObamaCare...

ObamaCare not only imposes its control over the health-care industry, but it reorganizes the chess board of interested parties in the heath-care industry by adding more chess pieces. Of course, government has an endless supply of chess pieces to add to the board. This, it is claimed, adds efficiency to the system thereby driving down health-care costs. Brad Miller bought into this argument and supported ObamaCare with a vote in favor.

This is 1/3 of the bureaucratic maze through with somehow is gleamed efficiency and cheaper health-care. This is more than just a cart in the mind of Brad Miller; it is art.

Gulf Proves Resilient to Oil Spills -- Where's the Disaster? -- A Call for More Drilling in the Gulf...

Polifrog suggested two weeks after the BP explosion that the Gulf was perhaps a uniquely resilient environment to oil spills or in this case an oil gusher.

Now it appears that Polifrog may be proven correct in his hope that this would be the disaster that never was. From the NYTimes:

The oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico appears to be dissolving far more rapidly than anyone expected, a piece of good news that raises tricky new questions about how fast the government should scale back its response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster.


This knowledge should open the gulf to 'Drill Baby Drill' and fear mongering environmentalists should loose face over the unknown cost to society they bring.

First off, this is a developing story.
But, secondly, where is, at least, some of the predicted devastation?

Nearly two weeks ago one of BP's oil drilling platform suffered an accident. BP’s estimate is that the well produces some 5,000 barrels of crude oil per day and currently covers around 7500 sq/miles.

Images of the Valdez spill in 89 (250,000 barrels spilled over 11,000 sq/miles) immediately spring to mind. But is it accurate to compare the current spill to Valdez?

I don't think so. There is too much that is different.

For instance,

Viscosity. The oil being spilled in the Gulf is less viscous than the oil spilled by the Valdez. Not only is it less viscous due to its nature, but also due to the higher temperatures in the gulf. This is why we will not likely see the same type of sludge we saw associated with Valdez.

Latitude and resulting albeto. The interaction between sunlight and water changes based on latitude. In lower latitudes the sun hits the surface of the water at a very steep angle which means that the light penetrates the water more than it does at higher latitudes.

These two above combine to thin the oil and help aid its evaporation to a greater degree in the gulf than in Prince William Sound Bay.

Environment. The Gulf is known to naturally leak oil due to natural underground seepage. The natural leakage is of similar volume to the BP tragedy currently unfolding. Of course, doubling the amount of oil leaking into the Gulf and dumping it all in one place is not a good thing, but it is also obvious that the Gulf is capable of absorbing oil to a large degree. Oil is incorporated in the Gulf's ecosystem whereas it is a foreign substance in Price William Sound.

What if it turns out that the Gulf is a uniquely resilient ecosystem to oil spills?

We can only hope that this will be a disaster that never was.

Rep. Brad Miller (NC-13) -- On Political Free Speech -- Updated: Financial Regulation Bill -- Not Your Parent's Democrat...

The Disclose Act (H.R. 5175) failed in the Senate today. The failure of this bill is a win for free speech. Before it failed in the Senate, though, it passed in the house with Brad Miller's support.

That is correct;Brad Miller sided with limiting free political speech. Oh, he would argue that my free speech is fine and that your free speech is OK as well, but if the two of us were to incorporate and engage in political speech Brad Miller would prefer us silenced and voted to that effect.

Polifrog asks Rep Brad Miller, how many people engaged in political speech does it take before you think we should be silenced?

Neither Franklin D Roosevelt nor John F Kennedy would have drifted so far from what it means to be American as to be asked such question.

So much for transparency.

Under a little-noticed provision of the recently passed financial-reform legislation, the Securities and Exchange Commission no longer has to comply with virtually all requests for information releases from the public, including those filed under the Freedom of Information Act.

Rep. Brad Miller -- On Parental Rights... Not your Parent's Democrat

Hypothetical:

Your daughter, a minor, desires an abortion but the state in which she resides requires parental notification of such procedures. She decides to enter a neighboring state in an effort to skirt the laws requiring parental consent. To that end, she enlists the help of a friend, boyfriend, teacher or any other individual to aid her in avoiding parental notification by transporting her across state lines.

Would you, as a parent, have preferred to remain uninformed of the abortion? Of course not. All proper parents would want to know if their daughter was attempting to procure an abortion. Parents understood then, as now, that not only was their child's health-care a parents responsibility, but more importantly, parents knew that their greatest responsibility to their children was guidance, and it was that loss of guidance that was at the heart of this issue.

The Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act (S - 403) and (HR - 748) attempted to address this issue. Project Vote Smart described the bill:

a bill that criminalizes the transportation of pregnant minors across state lines with the intention of the minor obtaining an abortion, with certain exceptions.

Both S-403 and HR-748 (one originating in the house and the other the senate version) attempted to secure parental rights. Brad Miller voted NO in each instance. Brad Miller showed with his votes that he does not respect parental rights and that he preferred minors have no parental guidance during what many would call one of the most difficult times of their life. It was not clear just what guidance was available for those minors outside counselors. Perhaps Brad Miller felt government sponsored counselors would have been preferable to parents, a sad place to position one's self as a representative.

Would John F. Kennedy or Franklin D. Roosevelt have voted with Brad Miller? Would You?

Rep. Brad Miller on Abortion --- Not Your Parent's Democrat...

Brad Miller does not talk much during these campaign days but he has a record of votes that does speak for him. In fact, Brad Miller has quite a good voting record -- as in attendance record -- and misses very few scheduled votes. The same con not be said of the way Brad Miller votes.

On abortion Brad Miller could not be more extreme. Given the chance in 2003 Brad Miller cast his vote against a bill (HR 760) to prohibit Partial-Birth Abortion. The bill passed without his help but what does it say of Brad Miller when he is willing to accept infanticide? Under what rational does one call the deliberate killing of a child murder when only moments before birth killing that same child would be A-Okay by Brad Miller.

Where is the rational?

During the debate over Partial-Birth Abortion Democrats argued that the law to prohibit Partial-Birth Abortion was an example of government inserting itself between a woman and her doctor without regard for that woman's privacy as defined by Roe Vs. Wade. Considering Brad Miller's general lack of creativity, he likely argued the same. How Brad Miller can then turn and support ObamaCare, a government intrusion between doctor and patient if there ever was one, is the ultimate example in political contortion and irrationality.

Would John F. Kennedy supported such insanity as Partial-Birth Abortion?

Rep. Brad Miller, the Silent Incumbent Candidate...A Polifrog Call to Bloggers to Stand Athwart Brad Miller's Silence and Rattle the Cage

Congressman Brad Miller's silence as an incumbent candidate is stunning.

Polifrog was directed to this piece at Carolina Journal via Google-Alerts, as it has been one of the few alerts over the past month that has mentioned Brad Miller the congressman and not Brad Miller the basketball player. In questioning multiple NC candidates on the expiring "Bush tax cuts" Carolina Journal tuck this response from Brad Miller at the end its article.

"Rep. Brad Miller, a Democrat who was elected in 2002, did not respond."
It seems all those candidates -- all democrats -- who chose not to respond should have had their response printed at forefront of the article. Shameful.

Brad Miller's silence is epic and promoted by a lazy local press. Google-news captures Brad Miller's name only 25 times for the past month under congressman "Brad Miller", four hits of which are of the athlete Brad Miller who it seems is now playing for the Rockets and a single reference to another Brad Miller who plays base ball. That leaves 20 hits referencing Congressman Brad Miller of NC. Of those 20, two simply mention Brad Miller in a list. What does this say of our press? Will they print nothing that isn't first passed on to them from Brad Miller? Do they do no research with their often vaunted research tools of there own? It certainly seems they are little more than Brad Miller's megaphone to the people.

What of the blogs? The same search for Congressman "Brad Miller" under a Google-blog search for the past month yielded 529 hits. This was narrowed down to 72 results by searching "Rep Brad Miller". Although these numbers seem high compared with the "news" category of hits, these numbers are shamefully low. Polifrog has unfortunately played a roll in this silence on Brad Miller. Polifrog has found it easy to wait for Brad Miller to speak and only then to reply. For this Polifrog apologizes.

As an incumbent Congressman Brad Miller's silence will propel him to an easy victory against Bill Randall this November. There is little that Brad Miller can point to in the past two years as proof of his positive stewardship of North Carolina. Instead, Brad Miller's record of voting in the Senate stands in contrast to North Carolina morals and in particular, the morals of district 13. Polifrog believes our liberal press knows this and is clearly standing with Brad Miller's chosen course of silence.

Polifrog calls to all bloggers with such an interest to not rest on their laurels as Polifrog has done in recent weeks -- waiting for Google Alerts -- and, instead, look for those stories our local press refuses to cover in their bid to give Brad Miller the silence he desires. It is up to the bloggers of NC to do the job of the press, to raise the questions they refuse to raise, to bring up Brad Miller's past voting record, to expose him as the extreme liberal with no respect for founding principles that he is, and attempt to inform our public that Brad Miller is not their parent's Democrat.

Shirley Sharrod's Racism and Her Accusations of the Same....

Radical activist Shirley Sherrod gave one of the most insulting and racist speeches in memory back in March. This week segments of the speech were revealed. In the speech Sherrod admitted that she did not help a white farmer because she did not appreciate his attitude. Later she said the incident happened years ago. That’s cool with the left.

Now the state-run media is making her out to be some poor victim.
Today she lashed out in her typical racist style at Andrew Breitbart:

Would like to get us stuck in the time of slavery, vicious, never tried to get past race, not interested in seeing anyone get past black vs. white, vicious against a black President, hasn’t seen him do anything but try to divide us

What a vicious and offensive radical.

She owes Breitbart, the tea party, and conservatives an apology for her awful hate speech.


It seems Sharrod is now lobbing the accusations of racism toward Andrew Breitbart. For racists like Sharrod it easy to find racism where none exists. This labeling of racism where non exists is racism in modern form and our media are curiously silent. Breitbart's record speaks for itself but without the media's megaphone truth is stifled.

The playing field is clear, if your a leftist that practiced racism "years ago", the media is down with that. And if your a leftist labeling the innocent as racist then the media is down with that also. It is good to be the racist Shirley Sharrod.

Polifrog's Drift Toward Local Politics...

PolifrogBlog has in recent months drifted toward increasingly more local politics. There are a couple of reasons for this.

One is that there is less competition.

A Netroots Meltdown? “It appears if the progressive-leftist activists of the Netroots have their way, what happens in Vegas is not going to stay in Vegas. They want it to play out at ballot boxes across the country in November, resulting in the Democrats losing seats in Congress. Obama has never been that openly kind to the Lefty bloggers. Rahm being in the WH hasn’t helped. Actually, the Netroots was more powerful in 2007, than it is today. The Democrats can only have one deliverer, after all. And it’s now Obama, not Markos Moulitsas.”

This, by the way, should be a lesson to the Tea Party folks on why taking over the party from the ground up is important. If you control the state committee, they can’t just ignore you they way they can if you’re solely a bunch of outsiders.

Andrew Breitbart and a Racist Shirley Sharrod...

Referencing Breitbart's piece...

As long as the "TeaParty is Racist" meme continues with NO proof of TeaParty racism, Shirley Sharrod should be considered a racist for her racist treatment of a white farmer as she clearly acted under racist motivations. The proof is in what she said. Not only should she be considered racist for her actions, but the NAACP audience which included the NAACP president should be considered racist for their accepting attitude toward Sharrod's self described racism. The fact that she later corrected her racism in no way absolves her of her racist tendencies nor does it absolve the NAACP for its approving attitude of Sharrod's racist actions.

Furthermore, the double standard in absolving racism is flagrantly obvious in this episode when one considers the accusation that the TeaParty is racist when there is NO proof. The fact that there is no proof has been pointed out repeatedly, yet the accusation is not retracted, but rather continues to be promoted by our media. In the Sharrod affair our media runs herd-like to absolve her despite her confession of racism otherwise.

We live with a poor excuse for a media.

Vaginal Birth Suddenly OK After C-Section...ObamaCare Cost Cut?

It was argued during the debate over ObamaCare that the bill would drive costs down. So far costs have, instead, risen. Polifrog wonders how hard ObamaCare is looking for ways to cut costs as the increasing pressure on American wallets due to ObamaCare during what is increasingly becoming a depression makes the program more susceptible to the ever growing movement to repeal the whole of the unconstitutional mess.

Today we find that the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has OK'ed vaginal births after c-sections when before ObamaCare they found the vaginal births too dangerous after c-section.

VBAC is known to increase the risk that the scar left in the womb from a previous cesarean will tear during labor, leading to massive bleeding that can threaten the baby's life. That has led to previous guidelines urging caution for women who have had cesarean sections.

Vaginal births are cheaper than c-sections and stand to save ObamaCare money at a higher risk to women and the unborn.

Under ObamaCare Polifrog will no longer trust the suggestions from organizations like the ACOG that owe their power to government.

Bev Perdue -- Governing the Raising of Our Children Instead of Our State....

Bev Perdue believes NC is in a war over resegregation. Nonsense!

Last month, Perdue told the state's legislative black caucus that North Carolina is in a "war" over resegregation.

...
"Gov. Perdue firmly believes that children are better prepared when the community inside their school resembles the one outside," said Mark Johnson, a spokesman for Perdue. "When they meet and make friends with people from different economic backgrounds, they learn that everybody doesn't have the same experiences in life."


It seems (Her Highness) Gov. Perdue wishes to reserve the right for government to raise our children for us unenlightened country folk. Bev Perdue's world view does not have room for parents making child rearing choices for their own children.

We all know schools did a better job of teaching the three R's and history in previous generations when they were responsive to those who made up their districts. Unfortunately our school districts have grown far too large through consolidation and are now more influenced by parties of influence outside the district (civil rights activists) than by those individuals they serve within their district.

The issue of school diversity in North Carolina has gotten increased attention in the past few months.Civil rights activists have alleged that resegregation is occurring in schools in Wayne and New Hanover counties. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board, which abandoned busing for diversity in 2002, is now reconsidering what role diversity should have in student assignments.

Of course, it seems our ruling class believes the solution to the problem is to set up a commission of 15 individuals of Bev Perdue's choosing.

State Democrats have used the Wake school controversy to mobilize their supporters. They insist the commission will conduct an honest study of the issue."Whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, we need to look at what Wake is doing," said state Rep. Rick Glazier, a Cumberland County Democrat who proposed the commission. "This is an issue that is truly important. This is one of the most successful and largest districts in the country making a major change, and the question is why?"

Polifrog suggests we save the state of NC the salaries of Bev Perdue's 15 "enlightened" and "unbiased" governing class and instead break up our "largest districts in the country" so that smaller more accountable districts can better tend to those they serve. This can be done without the cost of an easily influenced 15 member panel of "intellectuals" of which who's sole purpose is to divorce influence over the schools from the citizenry.

Perhaps, then, Bev Perdue can turn her attention to state duties and let communities sort through community matters.


This is not a war over resegregation, but rather a war over who raises our children; Parents or a distant government. Let communities govern themselves with governance that is close and responsive to the people.

Stop the social engineering. Stop the insanity.

23% Feel the Federal Government Has the Consent of the Governed...

Polifrog previously referenced this poll by Rasmussen here in which it was found that only 23% of Americans feel the federal government has the consent of the governed and tied it to Governance Through Broken Consent.

The same Rasmussen poll caught the attention of John Hinderaker:

I think the more significant cause, however, is the general one--a growing conviction that America is governed by a political class that has its own agenda, involving its own enrichment as well as the endless expansion of its own power, and that this political class is contemptuous of the opinions of ordinary Americans and is determined to impose its will regardless of how Americans vote. I think this perception is in fact true.

There have been several occasions when the American people have voted for smaller government; most notably in 1972, 1980 and 1994. But it really doesn't matter. You can vote for limited government, but you can't get it; the political class won't let you. This is not to assert the silly proposition that there is no major difference between Democrats and Republicans. The fiscal disaster that we have witnessed since the Democrats took control of Congress in 2007 proves the contrary. But still: experience shows that voting for Republicans hasn't been enough to offset the power of the political class.

There has been a slow slide toward increased statist governance for nearly a century, a thought explored here by Polifrog. It became clear to Polifrog during the period of the Bush Presidency in which Conservatives also held both houses that Conservatism had lost its way, Conservatism had lost its respect for liberty. There is a statist side to the current crop of conservatives that has hurt the party.

Founders, Constitution, Bill of Rights, Liberty, TeaParty. These words mesh for a reason and replacing the term TeaParty with Democrat or even Conservative causes discord. Sad.

It has proven to be difficult to vote liberty into office.

Brad Miller's ObamaCare Requires the Tracking of Gold Purchcases....

During the Great Depression our government deemed it illegal to own gold and forced the citizens of the US to sell it to them. Via Wikipidia:

Executive Order 6102 required U.S. citizens to deliver on or before May 1, 1933 all but a small amount of gold coin, gold bullion, and gold certificates owned by them to the Federal Reserve, in exchange for $20.67 per troy ounce. Under the Trading With the Enemy Act of October 6, 1917, as amended on March 9, 1933, violation of the order was punishable by fine up to $10,000 ($166,640 if adjusted for inflation as of 2008) or up to ten years in prison, or both.

Wouldn't it have been handy for them to have know who owned gold? With the passage of ObamaCare it has become easier for our government to track owners of gold and force them to give it up if so deemed. Via Numismaster:

Passage by Congress of the national health care legislation has had an unintended consequence to the nation’s coin collectors, vest-pocket dealers who buy and sell coins, and larger dealers who are frequent buyers of coins that collectors periodically liquidate as they trade up their collections for better coins, or simply sell to take a small profit or loss.

What has happened is that effective Jan. 1, 2012, the whole system of giving and receiving Internal Revenue Service 1099 forms will be turned on its head and all persons (including corporations) who are in business will now have to give 1099 tax reporting forms for coins and other goods that they sell as well as buy.


Polifrog doubts that Brad Miller knew that ObamaCare would require purchases of gold to be tracked as Brad Miller did not have the fortitude to read the ObamaCare bill prior to signing it. Brad Miller did lend his support to ObamaCare, though, and is rightfully bound to its awfulness.

Bev Perdue Finds NC's Reliance on the State Dole Acceptable

North Carolina has received $20.3 million in federal funds as a first step in a plan to establish a high-speed rail link between Charlotte and Raleigh.

Gov. Bev Perdue sees nothing wrong in relying on the federal government for a state dole. She does not seem to realize that true state health is created from within the state and not simply handed down from above. Creating an expanding economy through government spending is like a rabbit picking itself up by its own ears.

“This award is an exciting first step in the state’s partnership with the federal government to make high-speed rail a reality in North Carolina and the Southeast,” Gov. Bev Perdue says in a prepared statement. “For our citizens, it means jobs, economic development, reduced congestion and a cleaner environment.”

Apparently it does not a occur to Bev Perdue that NC's reliance on such a dole is an example of not only her failed leadership, but NC's miserable economic conditions.

A healthy NC would be able to provide for its own needs. A properly managed and run NC should not need to go to the federal government with a hand in need extended.

When will leadership begin?

End result: Bev Perdue's weakens NC through a reliance on the state dole while strengthening the federal government's hold on our state.

The strength of Federalism is on hold under Bev Perdue.

Governance Through Broken Consent Confirmed...

Polifrog has argued that the Pelosi, Reid, Obama triad has governed through broken consent. That is to say, Pelosi, Reid and Obama have put the members of their party in both houses who also represent weak democrat districts in a position where voting with the party is no longer problematic due to the bruising ObamaCare Battle. Add in the ever increasing numbers of retiring Democrats who are also no longer accountable to their constituents and the end result is a liberal lurch to the left.

Constituents in those weakly democratic districts have howled in protest, but they have not only been ignored, they have been ridiculed and impugned with unfair charges of racism and accused of being fertile soil for terrorism.

Democrats are now poised to enter a second stage of governance through broken consent.... Lame-Duck Governance Through Broken Consent. Many congressmen and Senators are set to loose office in November, but their stints won't end until the following year giving them plenty of time to govern through broken consent without accountability. For those Democrats who were reelected, they will have a full term to reform their public images after going along with Lame-Duck Governance Through Broken Consent.

Now comes word via Rasmussen that Polifrog is not alone in his concerns. According to Rasmussen:

... a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 23% of voters nationwide believe the federal government today has the consent of the governed. Sixty-two percent (62%) say it does not, and 15% are not sure.
My...Not even 1 quarter of Americans believe the federal government has their consent to govern.

This is Failed governance and it goes a long way in attributing why Obama is being seen more and more as a failure despite signing ObamaCare into law. There is no reward for signing into law a law that is not only unwanted but actively resisted by the majority.

Polifrog has said it before, today's racism is most frequently practiced as false charges of racism and currently one of the largest practitioners of racist tactics is the NAACP.

Recently the NAACP has attempted to label the Tea Party as racist without so much as one instance of racism to point to. This is done against the back drop of a country which voted to put a black president in office and put the first black family in the White House.

The NAACP has jumped the shark.

S 3564 -- A Bill to Help Women in College From Sen Tom Udall?

Sen. Tom Udall from New Mexico has introduced a bill to "promote the potential of women".

Perhaps Udall is unaware that times have changed since the 70's and that we are now living in a time when men rather than women are suffering from not just low but declining enrollment statitics in college and that we should perhaps Save The Men.

In brushing up on the present Mr. Udall should perhaps google the matter. For instance, this hit:

* Fisk University, a historically black college in Nashville, implemented a recruitment program this year called The Talented Tenth, which invites African-American high school males to the campus for a series of workshops about college. The current freshman class is 72% female.

* Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass., resurrected its football team five years ago when male enrollment began to slip. The school also recruits at all-male high schools.

* Many schools are heavily promoting science and technology programs, as well as ROTC and sports facilities.

...men now make up only 42 percent of the nation's college students.

Sen. Udall, this is no longer 1975; there is a current world that you should consider waking up to.

Finally, there are no cosponsors to this bill. Some should be considered.

Yep -- Congress Looses Face Over False Toyota Sudden Acceleration Charge....

Just as Polifrog suggested in this post and this post, our democrat Congress lost face in its childish raking of Toyota and Mr. Toyoda over the coals over a suspected sudden acceleration issue.

Perhaps if our members of Congress were not immune to the charge of defamation the sort of stagecraft we as a nation and Toyota as a direct recipient endured over the past winter would come to an end.



WSJ via Reason:

The U.S. Department of Transportation has ... found that at the time of the crashes, throttles were wide open and the brakes were not engaged, people familiar with the findings said.

The results suggest that some drivers who said their Toyota and Lexus vehicles surged out of control were mistakenly flooring the accelerator when they intended to jam on the brakes...

The findings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration involve a sample of reports in which a driver of a Toyota vehicle said the brakes were depressed but failed to stop the car from accelerating and ultimately crashing.

The data recorders analyzed by NHTSA were selected by the agency, not Toyota, based on complaints the drivers had filed with the government.

The findings are consistent with a 1989 government-sponsored study that blamed similar driver mistakes for a rash of sudden-acceleration reports involving Audi 5000 sedans.

The Toyota findings, which haven't been released by NHTSA, support Toyota's position that sudden-acceleration reports involving its vehicles weren't caused by electronic glitches in computer-controlled throttle systems, as some safety advocates and plaintiffs' attorneys have alleged. More than 100 people have sued the auto maker claiming crashes were the result of faulty electronics.

NC. HB 748 -- A NC Attempt to Squelch Free Speech via Blogs, Twitter, Facebook

Polifrog has been slow picking up on this bill and is still researching it but the fact that this has been under consideration is an indication that all our lawmakers should be replaced.

The NC legislature is considering a bill (HB 748) tonight that could force many people communicating through the Internet and mentioning a political candidate to file reports with the state.

This means a blog that does regular political analysis could be forced to send in reports to the state.

Almost any web site that just mentions a political candidate in any context could be forced to file reports.

The law specifically exempts print and broadcast media from this reporting requirement, but picks on the "new media."

(NC-13) Brad Miller's ObamaCare Continuing to Reveal its Awfulness...

Brad Miller of NC happily voted in support of ObamaCare and with that vote laid just as much claim to it as Pelosi, Obama and Reid. Unfortunately for Brad Miller its awfulness continues to reveal itself. Pelosi claimed we would have to pass ObamaCare (in the rush of all rushes) to see what was in it. In that she was correct, as for those congress folks who lent their support to the little read and even less understood bill it continues to do just that.

According to CNN Money:


The new regulations, which kick in at the start of 2012, require any taxpayer with business income to issue 1099 forms to all vendors from whom they purchased more than $600 of goods and services that year. That promises to launch a fusillade of new paperwork: An estimated 40 million taxpayers will be subject to the requirement, including 26 million who run sole proprietorships, according to a report released this week by National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson.

Olson's office, which operates independently within the IRS, flagged the new reporting requirements as one of its priority issues for the next year. Like many who have delved into the details of the new rules, Olson is concerned about their far-reaching scope and potential unintended consequences.

"The new reporting burden, particularly as it falls on small businesses, may turn out to be disproportionate as compared with any resulting improvement in tax compliance," the Taxpayer Advocate Service wrote in a report released this week.

The new rules are aimed at reducing the "tax gap" between what individuals and businesses owe and what they actually pay. The federal government misses out on estimated $300 billion each year from tax underpayment. The expanded reporting requirements, which Congress slipped into the landmark health care reform bill passed in March, are an attempt to create a paper trail of 1099s exposing business-to-business payments that might otherwise stay off the radar.

But the cost of that paper trail could swamp the small companies, sole proprietors freelancers forced to generate it. Pennsylvania business networking organization SMC Business Councils surveyed its members and found that they currently average 10 filings a year of 1099 forms. The new rules would push that average to more than 200 filings per year for a typical small business, the industry group estimates.


Bad for business, bad for you, bad for Brad Miller.

Belgium Considers Using Caustic Chemicals to Dissolve Bodies and Flush Them...

Polifrog and his father watched the news together and this activity likely prompted a dream Polifrog experienced as a child during the "Oh my God! We're all going to be buried in our own trash!" days of the 70's and early 80's. More importantly (at least to Polifrog) "Sludge" had become the buzz word of choice when referencing our rivers. Judging from today's non-use of the term "sludge" by our press the stuff must now be nonexistent.

In the dream individuals were expected (if chosen) to lie down in a bath of thick black sludge and let the substance slowly noodle its way into our bodies. We were expected to commit suicide in an effort to lessen the strain on our planet of our being. Apparently I had been chosen and awoke from the dream with the my last memory being that I been submerged in the dark warmth of sludge.
We never never forget some dreams. Polifrog was somewhere between single and double digits at the time...sad.

In resomation the body is placed in a silk bag, itself placed within a metal cage frame. This is then loaded into a Resomator.

The machine is filled with a mixture of water and potassium hydroxide.

The end result is a small quantity of green-brown tinted liquid containing amino acids, peptides, sugars and salts and soft, porous white bone remains which are easily crushed.

The white ash can then be returned to the next of kin of the deceased.

The liquid can be recycled back to the ecosystem by being applied to a memorial garden or forest or simply put into the sewerage system.


But why Polifrog asks:
The move is intended to tackle a lack of burial space and environmental concerns as 573lbs of carbon dioxide are released by each cremated corpse.


Polifrog is going to ignore the Pavlov like Global Warming nonsense as it has proven to be just that in the wake of Climategate.

On the same hand, the other excuse offered for resomation (not enough space) is just as ridiculous. Polifrog has been to Belgium and witnessed first hand not only the country's social state induced poverty (relative to the rest of Europe), but also the generous amount of farmland in the country. The countryside from the window of Polifrog's train ride from Brussels to Mons indicated that Belgium was a country blessed with open land primarily engaged in agriculture and hence blessed with room to bury rather than flush their dead.

Anything but Austerity...Internet Tax -- Transaction Tax....

New taxes. If they are new taxes then they are not being raised. Yea.

They are floating a transaction tax to pay for our debt:
One idea for raising taxes to pay down the debt is the bill introduced this February by Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.). His “Debt Free America Act” (H.R. 4646) would impose a 1 percent “transaction tax” on every financial transaction — whether paid by cash, credit card or any form of financial transfer, the only exception being transactions involving the purchase or sale of stock. Theoretically, everyone would pay one cent on the dollar for every such transaction in America every day — whether $3 million on a $300 million business acquisition, $300 on the purchase of a $30,000 car, or $5 on a $500 ATM withdrawal.

Also they seem to be reviving the idea that we should tax into submission one of the only bright spots we can point to...the internet.
The president’s deficit commission is expected to report its recommendations shortly after the midterm elections. It’s widely expected that Congressional leaders may attempt to push through any tax increases during the lame duck session – before a new Congress is sworn in, in January. Don’t be surprised if a new tax on internet commerce is seriously considered.

You see, we have to pay for the non-stimulation stimulus packages, bank bailouts, and cheap home loans the fed gave us by purchasing our own treasuries.

Are you stimulated yet?

The child fails and Jay brings in the Grandfather who was likely once enlisted. His generation, it appears, was the last generation taught to respect their country's history in their family.

Just what is our Constitution without respect for original intent?

The answer is that it is what ever our leaders deem it to mean. Witness the interpretations of the interstate commerce clause that only serve to strengthen the federal government.

The answer is that the Constitution becomes only those amendments our government wish to respect, read, or include. Witness the 10th amendment's attempt to reign in federal government and just how small the 10th amendment has become in the thoughts of governance.

Observing original intent would go a long way toward bringing the US back to its earlier strength.






Blaming the military is a knee-jerk action on the left. Clearly from the video above, Elena Kagan is knee-jerk liberal with no respect for the original intent of our Constitution. Absent that qualification Elena Kagan is unfit to serve on the Supreme Court.

Again, Elena Kagan is unfit for service as a Supreme Court justice for her lack of respect for original intent.
