Hypothetical:

Your daughter, a minor, desires an abortion but the state in which she resides requires parental notification of such procedures. She decides to enter a neighboring state in an effort to skirt the laws requiring parental consent. To that end, she enlists the help of a friend, boyfriend, teacher or any other individual to aid her in avoiding parental notification by transporting her across state lines.

Would you, as a parent, have preferred to remain uninformed of the abortion? Of course not. All proper parents would want to know if their daughter was attempting to procure an abortion. Parents understood then, as now, that not only was their child's health-care a parents responsibility, but more importantly, parents knew that their greatest responsibility to their children was guidance, and it was that loss of guidance that was at the heart of this issue.

The Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act (S - 403) and (HR - 748) attempted to address this issue. Project Vote Smart described the bill:

a bill that criminalizes the transportation of pregnant minors across state lines with the intention of the minor obtaining an abortion, with certain exceptions.

Both S-403 and HR-748 (one originating in the house and the other the senate version) attempted to secure parental rights. Brad Miller voted NO in each instance. Brad Miller showed with his votes that he does not respect parental rights and that he preferred minors have no parental guidance during what many would call one of the most difficult times of their life. It was not clear just what guidance was available for those minors outside counselors. Perhaps Brad Miller felt government sponsored counselors would have been preferable to parents, a sad place to position one's self as a representative.

Would John F. Kennedy or Franklin D. Roosevelt have voted with Brad Miller? Would You?

Imagine you are about to be executed. Would you want want to reduce the pain of your execution? I seems a natural desire when in that position to want some fashion of pain killer. As an executioner it is only humane to consider the pain of the executed.

But what if instead of being an adult you are a child ... minutes from being born. Your feet are in contact with the air you will soon breath. As you are being exposed to a cold new world your feet are followed by your legs, hips and abdomen. Then, before the moment you are fully born, pain rips through you as your spinal chord is severed at the base of your skull. You have been aborted by a mother who was not aware that the unborn feel pain.

This is a scenario the failed Abortion Pain Bill (HR 6099) was intended to address. According to Project Vote Smart the bill:

-Requires the physician to provide the woman with the following information or material: the approximate age of the fetus/unborn child; the "Unborn Child Pain Awareness Brochure"; the possibility that drugs administered to the mother may not prevent pain for the fetus/unborn child; and risks and costs associated with the use of pain-reducing drugs (Sec. 3).

-Requires the "Unborn Child Pain Awareness Brochure" to state that evidence exists suggesting fetuses/unborn children 20 weeks or more into development are capable of experiencing pain, and that the woman may request pain-reducing drugs for the fetus/unborn child, and that there may be additional risks associated with the use of some pain-reducing drugs (Sec. 3).

-Allows the woman to waive receipt of the brochure by signing an "Unborn Child Pain Awareness Decision Form" (Sec. 3).

This bill failed with the help of Brad Miller. His no vote ensured that mothers remained uneducated about the pain their aborted children endure and forced our unborn to continue to suffer the pain of execution. Death-row inmates receive more sympathy than our children at the hands of Brad Miller.

Would Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy have wished to continue to subject the pain of execution on children? Would you? Brad Miller did.

Brad Miller does not talk much during these campaign days but he has a record of votes that does speak for him. In fact, Brad Miller has quite a good voting record -- as in attendance record -- and misses very few scheduled votes. The same con not be said of the way Brad Miller votes.

On abortion Brad Miller could not be more extreme. Given the chance in 2003 Brad Miller cast his vote against a bill (HR 760) to prohibit Partial-Birth Abortion. The bill passed without his help but what does it say of Brad Miller when he is willing to accept infanticide? Under what rational does one call the deliberate killing of a child murder when only moments before birth killing that same child would be A-Okay by Brad Miller.

Where is the rational?

During the debate over Partial-Birth Abortion Democrats argued that the law to prohibit Partial-Birth Abortion was an example of government inserting itself between a woman and her doctor without regard for that woman's privacy as defined by Roe Vs. Wade. Considering Brad Miller's general lack of creativity, he likely argued the same. How Brad Miller can then turn and support ObamaCare, a government intrusion between doctor and patient if there ever was one, is the ultimate example in political contortion and irrationality.

Would John F. Kennedy supported such insanity as Partial-Birth Abortion?
