Boiling a Frog

polifrog

At some point, when it's too late ... the water boils:

Washington Rebel:
They have already taken your freedom, your rights. The Constitution has been mutilated by court rulings and bench amendments to the point where it really means nothing. Listen, when a penumbraed right, a thing that doesn't even exist except in the shadows of other words, can allow for the killing of unborn children, but the clear, concise wording of the Second Amendment can not be relied upon to secure your right to keep and bear arms, you have been duped. The Congress doesn't even refer to the Constitution when making laws and doesn't much care whether they have the authority or not. Might makes right and they have the might.

You have to realize that you can not be the hero. There are none in this fight, because you are fighting the authorities. When the signatories of the Declaration of Independence made their mark, they had committed crimes and were hunted as criminals. Everything you might do to secure the blessings of liberty to yourself and your posterity will, by definition, be a crime. This is not a game. I don't care what you do to regain your freedom, you can write, you can protest, you can form groups, you can make pledges and promises, but don't look for support from the people on the train. You are a threat to their blissful scenery. To hide from the truth they will call you a racist, a homophobe, a domestic terrorist, a criminal, a tax cheat. They don't care what is true, they just want you to let them sleep.

This frog is a hoppin'...

Polifrog's Drift Toward Local Politics...

polifrog

PolifrogBlog has in recent months drifted toward increasingly more local politics. There are a couple of reasons for this.

One is that there is less competition.

The second reason comes via Glen Reynolds, Instapundit...

A Netroots Meltdown? “It appears if the progressive-leftist activists of the Netroots have their way, what happens in Vegas is not going to stay in Vegas. They want it to play out at ballot boxes across the country in November, resulting in the Democrats losing seats in Congress. Obama has never been that openly kind to the Lefty bloggers. Rahm being in the WH hasn’t helped. Actually, the Netroots was more powerful in 2007, than it is today. The Democrats can only have one deliverer, after all. And it’s now Obama, not Markos Moulitsas.”

This, by the way, should be a lesson to the Tea Party folks on why taking over the party from the ground up is important. If you control the state committee, they can’t just ignore you they way they can if you’re solely a bunch of outsiders.

[Bold Added]

From Netroots to real roots.

Obama Agrees with Polifrog that the Gulf is a Resilient Ecosystem...

polifrog

Polifrog penned this piece as a hope rather than a statement of fact.
It ended thusly:

What if it turns out that the Gulf is a uniquely resilient ecosystem to oil spills?

but imagine my surprise when I saw that Obama agrees. Via Salon:

"This is a resilient ecosystem and these are resilient people down on the Gulf Coast."
