Vibrant, healthy economies create jobs. An earlier non Keynesian America accepted this reality. But today our non reality based betters buy jobs with debt at the expense of national economic health. Buy jobs first with debt with the expectation that economic growth will soon follow...

Unfortunately North Carolina is the home of one of these Keynesian members of the surreal.

Listen to Brad Miller claim if we build it they will come:

North Carolina 13th District Rep. Brad Miller said the federal deficit is not the nation's biggest problem. He said growing jobs should be the top priority.

"The most pressing thing is getting American back to work. Bringing the unemployment rate down. That will probably take care of half of the deficit," said Miller. "American's don't pay income taxes if have no income."

Gov. Bev Perdue - Bogarting Mad Job Creation Skills (Part 1)...Gov.

I have been essentially disconnected from all media for the past week and a half and with the exception of a short visit to McDonald's represented by the post below polifrog has suffered. I considered an "on vacation" post but decided against telegraphing my absence to the unknown.

I'm back now and kinking off my return with what will likely become a reoccurring feature judging from history.

Gov. Bev Perdue's office announced Wednesday that the company plans to create 100 new positions in North Carolina and will invest $36 million as part of the project, which was made possible in part by state grants from the Job Development Investment Grant program and One North Carolina Fund.

[emphasis mine]

Perhaps it would be cheaper to not drive perspective new corporations and their jobs from NC with an utter disrespect for property rights and contract law as Perdue has done in respect to Alcoa.

Although, claiming that which Perdue had no hand has a certain political luster.

Bev Perdue Finds NC's Reliance on the State Dole Acceptable

North Carolina has received $20.3 million in federal funds as a first step in a plan to establish a high-speed rail link between Charlotte and Raleigh.

Gov. Bev Perdue sees nothing wrong in relying on the federal government for a state dole. She does not seem to realize that true state health is created from within the state and not simply handed down from above. Creating an expanding economy through government spending is like a rabbit picking itself up by its own ears.

“This award is an exciting first step in the state’s partnership with the federal government to make high-speed rail a reality in North Carolina and the Southeast,” Gov. Bev Perdue says in a prepared statement. “For our citizens, it means jobs, economic development, reduced congestion and a cleaner environment.”

Apparently it does not a occur to Bev Perdue that NC's reliance on such a dole is an example of not only her failed leadership, but NC's miserable economic conditions.

A healthy NC would be able to provide for its own needs. A properly managed and run NC should not need to go to the federal government with a hand in need extended.

When will leadership begin?

End result: Bev Perdue's weakens NC through a reliance on the state dole while strengthening the federal government's hold on our state.

The strength of Federalism is on hold under Bev Perdue.

Brad Miller is a Keynesian at heart and what is more Keynesian than pumping priming the economy with Census workers?

Payrolls across America increased by 431,000 in May, but

Virtually all the job creation in May came from the hiring of 411,000 census workers. Such hiring peaked in May and will begin tailing off in June.

By contrast, hiring by private employers, the backbone of the economy, slowed sharply. They added just 41,000 jobs, down from 218,000 in April and the fewest since January.

Not even the press pump monkeys can fudge these numbers.

It remains to be seen if the Keynesian take on trickle down economics through government will have any positive effect on the economy in the long run.

In all likelihood the drag imparted on the economy by the immense borrowing done by the Fed will more than offset any positive trickle down effects. Government borrowing kills the vaunted multiplier effect.
