Nearly 20% of Florida Homes Vacant,
On Thursday, the Census Bureau revealed that 18% -- or 1.6 million -- of
the Sunshine State's homes are sitting vacant. That's a rise of more than 63%
over the past 10 years.


While according to Gallup nearly 20% are considered unemployed or underemployed,

The U.S. unemployment rate hit 10.3 percent in February, up from 9.8 percent at the end of January, according to the Gallup polling agency.

The rate of those considered to be underemployed, meanwhile, reached 19.9 percent last month, up from 18.9 percent at the end of January, Gallup says.


Amid this morass Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner had this to say,
US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner confessed on Wednesday that he had not read the plans by China's central bank governor for a "super-sovereign reserve currency" run by the International Monetary Fund, but nevertheless let slip that Washington was "open" to the idea.
And here I thought that the dollar's being a reserve currency was to some extent propping up its value despite massive debt.
