I find the last statement extremely odd, bordering on stupid, but most likely political drivel, considering history. When has liberty not been wrested from tyrants, progressives, communists, socialists, fascists, feudal lords, or any arbiter of power without the barrel of a gun? It is not in the nature of humanity to give up power willingly. WWII comes to mind,or has Gordon Brown forgotten that skirmish.
Not only is freedom gained at the barrel of a gun, but it is defended from individual and nation alike at the barrel of a gun.
