For some students, study breaks in the library come in all shapes — and sizes.

As students begin to fill up the libraries in preparation for final exams, an active thread on the online classifieds website Craigslist reveals a subculture of illicit sexual activity specific to Davis Library, the University’s largest.

A search for “Davis Library” on the personals section of the Raleigh Craigslist turns up a series of requests for sexual favors, posts that have caught the attention of some library employees.

Besides the posts, library employees cite graphic evidence, including semen-filled condoms draped over chairs and stuck to the walls.

I used Davis for silent study and never was distracted by this sort of stuff. But, hey, that was the early 90's.

Unless the university finds other funds, it will euthanize the current herd of 16 animals, the Reuters report said, citing Lori Bona Hunt, a spokeswoman for the University of Guelph.

This deliberate extinction of an entire species under the rubric of "euthanizing the herd"  leaves me squirming.

If we create it, are we allowed to break it?

“October Baby” tells the story of Hannah, 19, a home-schooled Baptist who is told by a doctor that her ailments — asthma, seizures, moodiness — are the result of being born prematurely after an abortion attempt.

Hannah sets out to find her birth mother, a quest that ends in tears and, ultimately, a lesson in forgiveness delivered by a Catholic priest.

It is easy to see lost potential when a child, adolescent or adult lose their life at the hand of another.  It is, however, much more difficult to see the lost potential of a human never seen. These individuals who survive abortions allow us to see through the veil of death before birth that hides lost potential from us.

Liberals deny having the the pulling aside of the curtain that reveals this loss with whatever tools they may have:

The reviews have not been kind. In The New York Times, Jeannette Catsoulis wrote that “the film communicates in the language of guilt and fear,” while Roger Ebert called it “amateurish and ungainly.”

Liberals fought to defend slavery,  Jim Crow, and now abortion.  In each case the rights of some are lost to the convenience of others in return for votes that support the Democrat party.  Evil is as evil does.

A new Elon University Poll finds that nearly three-quarters of North Carolina residents – not voters – would support some sort of photo identification requirement to vote.

The survey found that only 24 percent opposed the law.

This seems to me to be a no-brainer.  Push the law and conservatives benefit; shut out liberal shenanigans at the polls and conservatives benefit.

When I first heard the term "Hate Crime" in my youth, I thought it odd that thought or feeling was being criminalized. If fact, it wasn't being criminalized at the time.

What the terminology did, though, was to open the door to accepting thought, feeling, and ultimately speech as criminal acts. In the years since my first introduction to the term my first impression has been proven correct.

We now defend free speech from liberalism.

The best example was Tribe, who was seated one row ahead of me and two seats over. (Tribe dismissed the seriousness of the case in the New York Times last year, concluding “this law’s constitutionality is open and shut” because the lower-court judges who ruled against it were “confused.”)

Last week, Tribe was the one looking confused. While Eric Holder remained poker-faced throughout the argument—doubtless aware that he was being watched—Tribe couldn’t contain himself. He pursed his lips, leaned forward, steepled his fingers, and at times cast down his eyes. Any doubts that I was misreading these signs were dispelled when my friend Austin Nimocks of the Alliance Defense Fund, sitting next to me, leaned over and whispered, “Watching Tribe’s body language is priceless.”

The reason for this divide is illustrated by one of Tribe’s books, The Invisible Constitution. (That’s not the one on my shelf, and I won’t be adding it anytime soon.) A majority of the justices evidently concur with Alito, who joked during a Federalist Society dinner speech I attended years ago that he doesn’t know how to read invisible ink, so he will confine himself to the visible Constitution that we can all read anytime we want to. (An illustration from the book appears above.)

Looks like I'll be looking into the Invisible Constitution.
