On the way out she offers her hand to the interviewer but he won't shake Charlotte Bergman's hand for fear that her "whiteness" might rub off on him:

Juan Williams:
The language of GOP racial politics is heavy on euphemisms that allow the speaker to deny any responsibility for the racial content of his message. The code words in this game are "entitlement society" - as used by Mitt Romney - and "poor work ethic" and "food stamp president" - as used by Newt Gingrich. References to a lack of respect for the "Founding Fathers" and the "Constitution" also make certain ears perk up by demonizing anyone supposedly threatening core "old-fashioned American values."
Juan gives examples of racist "code" such as "poor work ethic", "entitlement society"words", "food stamp president" with no proof of racist intent. It is, in fact, Juan Williams who, when presented with a choice between defining words by the context in which the words are used or defining them in the terms of his own racist assumptions, chooses racism.
Absent proof of racism, the only racism is Juan's accusation.
According to Chris Matthews even Juan's name is racist when Matthews applies his own racist assumptions to the use of Juan's name:
