The US, Frozen by the Bright Light of Democracy Demanded...

As commented at DailyPundit...

I believe it is getting more difficult to deny the foreign policy success that democratizing the Middle East through Iraq has become.

In country after country the citizenry, seeing the the somewhat staggering democracy in Iraq, is demanding more freedom. Whether that demand is co-opted by self serving forces remains unclear. Our nation should be a clarifying force in this matter.

The right should start claiming Iraq to be the foreign policy success that it has become and a source of the desire for freedom felt by the citizenry across the Mideast. If the right doesn’t then the left is going to define that source such that they are presented in the best possible light (perhaps as having its genesis in Egypt) when they should be sinking due to the political dead weight of resisting Iraqi liberty.

Unfortunately our nation and the Republican Party are frozen deer in the bright light democracy demanded. It is sad that we are not steering those demands in the correct direction as much as possible.
