Severe Poll Turnout Trouble for Rep. Brad Miller (NC-13), David Price (NC-4), Bob Etheridge (NC-2), GK Butterfield (NC-1)...

polifrog

Bye, Brad Miller
Bye, David Price
Bye, Bob Etheridge

Gallup:

Taking Gallup's final survey's margin of error into account, the historical model predicts that the Republicans could gain anywhere from 60 seats on up, with gains well beyond that possible.

It should be noted, however, that this year's 15-point gap in favor of the Republican candidates among likely voters is unprecedented in Gallup polling and could result in the largest Republican margin in House voting in several generations. This means that seat projections have moved into uncharted territory, in which past relationships between the national two-party vote and the number of seats won may not be maintained.

Week 5 -- Last poll by Gallup before the Nov 2 election found here. Advantage remains Republican with extremely modest slide back in the Republican direction. The weakening seen in week 4 has been stemmed.

Under the high voter turnout:
Week (5): 42 /52
Week (4): 43 /52
Week (3): 42 / 53
Week (2): 41 / 53
Week (1): 40 / 53

Under the low voter turnout:
Week (5): 40 / 55
Week (4): 41 / 55
Week (3): 39 / 56
Week (2): 39 / 56
Week (1): 38 / 56

For reference to Gallup's predictive ability I give this via Morning Jay of weeklystandard.com:

=========

Finally, if you assume Brad Miller, David Price, and Bob Etheridge are in "safe" seats, then think again. RCP puts Ethridge in "Leans Dem." and both Miller and Price in "Likely Dem."

The point is, these guys are weak, none have a "safe" seat, so don't let yourself be convinced otherwise and let inertia get the better of you.

Rep. Brad Miller, Bob Etheridg, David Price, GK Butterfield, and Mel Watt -- Breaking the Common Bonds Through ObamaCare...

polifrog

---I wrote this in reply to a comment and thought it would make a good post on a slow news day.---

I was at a roadside watermelon stand earlier this summer. A third fellow by the name of Obama strolled up as I was about to buy a peach of a watermelon from the vendor. He said, "Hold on, let me take that $5 and buy that melon for you."

"OK. what could be the harm?" I said, and let the money slide into his left hand which he had oddly nicknamed "The Insurance Industry". He immediately took off and he dashed from one milling customer to the other attempting to influence them with his new stash. During all the scurrying he managed to flick three dollars into a nearby creek for what he deemed to be "future investment". This seemed slushy to me, but whatever.

Eventually he returned to the watermelon vendor and gave him a $1.50. Fifty cents had disappeared beyond the $3 of "future investment".

At this point Obama forced the watermelon vendor to hand me and another fellow, who had yet to spend a dime, each a watermelon off the vendor's table of week old melons that were normally half price. With that, he then had the audacity to claim he had created one free watermelon.

End result....

  • Despite the fact that the vendor had lost money, I was pissed off at him for handing me a crap melon.
  • The vendor, for his part, was perplexed to the point of frustration by my anger; as far as he could tell I never paid him for the melon he gave me.
  • Although the vendor continued to kiss this Obama Character's ass in an effort to retain future business, he was pissed at being forced to operate at a loss until he realized he no longer needed to keep a supply of the best watermelons to retain his market.
  • For Obama's part, between visits to collect more money for my next melon, the price of which had already risen to $15, he was too busy picking lobster from his teeth to notice the dischord he had created, nor did he have the inclination to hear my complaints.

Breaking the bonds of economic transaction yields hate between citizens and is the result of immoral governance.

Rep GK Butterfield (NC-1) -- On Cap and Tax (Trade)

polifrog

GK Butterfield supports and has voted in favor of Cap and Tax (Trade).

Aside from decimating American industry in a false effort to avert Global Warming....

Yea, that Global Warming....How does this bill directly effect the individual?

Within the endless pages of legal ease of the bill is a little ditty that has a detrimental effect on home owners. It, of course, would not only impact home owners but everyone who rents as well, as the owners of the units would pass the increased costs on to the renter. Ok, by that reasoning, it effects anyone who chooses to live in a shelter of any kind.

It does this by requiring property owners to upgrade their homes to meet predetermined efficiency standards. Replacing all windows, upgraded insulation, new furnaces , new water heaters, and new appliances would be required before a home owner would be allowed to sell their home. Least you think this would be a one shot upgrade, remember that advances in efficiency would keep the inspectors returning prior to every sale.

Thought experiment...You've lost your job and have been having difficulty with the mortgage. You need to sell your home...fast. The government efficiency inspector, though, reports in their leisurely way that you need $20,000 in upgrades before you can sell your home and get out from under the mortgage. Your already broke and unlikely able to get a loan for $20,000. You default on your loan. Thank GK Butterfield.

Thought experiment...You own a rental property you wish to sell and are forced to make one of two decisions. Whether it is a duplex or an apartment complex does not matter. You are considering selling, but selling would mean raising the rents on your tenants to make the expensive GK Butterfield mandated upgrades to your rental. Your other option is to sit on the property in which case GK Butterfield's efficiency mandates force you to add to the locking up of the real estate market. Bad for renters, bad for owners, bad for real estate, bad for America.

This is just a tiny facet of Cap and Trade and it is what GK Butterfield wishes to impose on all Americans.

Politicians like GK Butterfield believe that their party having been falsely defined as protectors of the poor will shield them from the wrath of the poor and middle class who will shoulder the burden of Cap and Trade. And remember Cap and Trade it is argued will protect us from the hoax that is global warming. This is government intrusion and nothing more.

GK Butterfield a grade school economist who is truly bad for NC and America.

Rep. GK Butterfield (NC-1) Has a Self Serving Vision for Health-Care...

polifrog

It is a vision in which the recipients of health-care become a cost and government becomes the customer, a system in which the health-care industry grovels at the feet of the source of its funding - bureaucrats, while the infirmed wait in line for the chance to beg for the health-care they paid recalcitrant bureaucrats for.

GK Butterfield's vision of better health-care inserts himself between my doctor and myself through insurance companies.

Eventually, though, the nation will question the existence of the insurance companies and the end result will be the NHS, England's government health-care. Via dailymail.com:

Earlier this year the Government's rationing body said more cuts in medical treatments are planned to save the NHS at least £600million.

Patients could find it harder to get into hospital under plans from the National Institute for health and Clinical Excellence, which advises on drugs and procedures to be funded.
GK Butterfield's vision for Health-Care in the US is to fully break the bond between health-care customer and health-care provider, so that he, governance embodied, will be the one the infirmed come to when in need. He has no medical degree, has taken no Hippocratic oath, yet his governance will be the source of our health-care.

Imagine our need, imagine GK Butterfield's influence...

Health-care has to be paid for out of our pockets. Either it goes directly from our pockets to the health-care industry, or it goes in to the hands of governance then to the health-care industry. The question is...is it more efficient for us to give our dollars directly to those who wish to provide us with a service and retain the power we have as a customer over a provider, than to give those dollars and influence to GK Butterfield, and be left groveling at his feet when we fear services may be cut.

GK Butterfield's vision for health-care increases GK Butterfield's influence while decreasing ours, it strengthens government while weakening America. Under GK Butterfield's vision Europe's socialist failure will be ours.

Democrat Congresses = Budget Deficits - Fire Rep. Brad Miller, Rep. Bob Etheridge, Rep. GK Butterfield, Rep David Price, Rep Mel Watt...

polifrog

With the fact that we are going to the polls this Tuesday and all house seats are up for grabs it is wise to understand that it is the house that controls the nation's budget.

There are not "Clinton Surpluses"; Newt's congress forced the surpluses on him, neither are there "Bush Deficits" as Pelosi forced the majority of deficits on him during his final two years. Presidents do not control the nation's purse, congress does. Allowing this meme, that presidents have surpluses and deficits, only decreases accountability.

There are, in fact, Republican Congressional Surpluses and Perpetual Democrat Congressional deficits.

It is in this nation's interest to know which party is the party of fiscal responsibility and which party does not understand that Keynesian Theory is a failure.

GK Butterfield - Diving beyond Debt and Morality

polifrog

It is a no-brainer....free is expensive, while a cost is less so.

This is a result of a duality in human nature, industriousness and laziness. Assuming a basis in law and property rights societies organized such that they harness the industriousness of humanity find wealth, while societies organized such that laziness is coaxed from their citizenry, yield poverty.

Here is why...

---Situation 1
A person spends their own money.
In this case a person sells a piece of their time on earth to earn money. With those dollars that person naturally makes judicious choices in respect to the spending of those dollars. When the whole of society spends judiciously and wisely, the resulting pressure on suppliers forces them to produce what end users want and forces the costs of goods to drop. Thus a cost makes a society efficient, lean, inexpensive, and above all moral.

---Situation 2
A person spends money that person did not earn.
The value of the dollars in such a person's possession are lessened as they are unearned dollars. That person will, by nature, not spend those dollars as judiciously as the individual in situation 1, but they do spend the dollars on those things they need and desire. This lessens the pressure on suppliers to keep costs down and efficiencies high, but, at least, the suppliers cater to the needs of society. We see this in charity. We also see it in the form of welfare.

---Situation 3
A person spends dollars they did not earn and they spend those dollars on others.
This is the worst of the three situations. The value of the dollars to the spender is less than in situation 1, but the impact of these dollars on society are worse than in situation 2. In this case the dollars are not spent by the end user, but rather a middle man whose interests are not interests of the end user, thus the suppliers cater not to the end user, but to the middle man. This skews what is produced by the producers away from the needs of the end user and toward the middleman, but most perniciously, this situation turns the end user into, not just a business cost, but an unproductive business cost to be minimized. Lastly, too much of this situation in combination with situation 2 results is a very inefficient society that leads to impoverishment as the price of goods rise. The citizenry, of course, still pays for the goods through their ever increasing taxes. Breaking the back of capitalism by divorcing the influence of the end user over the producers. In a word...immoral.

Unfortunately, our country is now saddled with a Situation 3 program in ObamaCare. Government will be buying goods for people with other people's money. Somehow GK Butterfield and Barak Obama believe immorally restructuring our health-care so that the end user becomes an unproductive business cost is the bees knees.

GK Butterfield does not understand that Situation 1 economics created the wealth we enjoy through its moral application of human industriousness. GK Butterfield's support for ObamaCare suggests his support for the immorality of Situation 3 economics, increased debt, and national lethargy.

As an immoral situation 3 program, ObamaCare is inherently inefficient and immensely costly to a society, but President Obama had this to say by way of ABC....
President Barack Obama says he did a full court press for a health care system remake because "this country was going to go bankrupt."
How can a president expect anyone to believe such blithering nonsense? He may as well be convincing the citizens of the US that Guam is in danger of capsizing.

Considering that much of Washington's current budget will be funded through debt spending, and the addition of ObamaCare will serve to exacerbate the problem, we should consider a 4th spending situation not mentioned by Milton Friedman. The moral bankruptcy required to lead a nation in this direction is almost beyond comprehension, yet GK Butterfield finds a way.

---Situation 4
A person spends dollars (not yet earned and not yet taxed from the unborn) on the currently living (for votes).
This combines the worst of situations 2 and 3 and then removes a representative's accountability to their voter's wallets. There is no accountability when a representative is picking the wallet of the unborn.

I guess it is a small thing, though, for GK Butterfield to pick the wallets of the unborn when he supports the picking of their lives by way of abortion.

GK Butterfield, a grade school economist.

Rep GK Butterfield - (NC-1) - Continuing to Pick the Pockets of the Unborn...

polifrog

Congress doesn't get it. The amendment below passed 418-3. We should remind ourselves that there is currently a glut in housing,
Via WSJ,

It is official: The U.S. is addicted to housing.

...

The bill is called the “Small Business Lending Fund Act of 2010,” and it would extend $30 billion to small banks to facilitate small-business lending. But the last minute amendment, which was sponsored by Democratic Reps. Brad Miller (N.C.), Joe Baca (Calif.) and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (Md.), would allow builders to tap into the $30 billion to build more houses.

For more than two years, banks have practically shut off all financing to small and mid-size home builders as they pare back their exposure to construction and development loans.

Housing sales are down despite low interest rates and bargain prices, yet our leaders keep pumping that Keynesian chicken.

Fiscal responsibility is dead except in the private sector.

And if you wonder how GK Butterfield intends to ultimately fund this boondoggle, the answer is that he finds it easy to pick the pockets of the unborn, being already accustomed to picking their lives through abortion.

Rep. GK Butterfield (NC-1) -- On Political Free Speech -- Updated: Financial Regulation Bill -- Not Your Parent's Democrat...

polifrog

The Disclose Act (H.R. 5175) failed in the Senate. The failure of this bill is a win for free speech. Before it failed in the Senate, though, it passed in the house with GK Butterfield's support.

That is correct; GK Butterfield sided with limiting free political speech. Oh, he would argue that my free speech is fine and that your free speech is OK as well, but if the two of us were to incorporate and engage in political speech GK Butterfield would prefer us silenced and voted to that effect.

Polifrog asks Rep GK Butterfield, how many people engaged in political speech does it take before you think we should be silenced?

Neither Franklin D Roosevelt nor John F Kennedy would have drifted so far from the definition of American as to be asked such question.

Rep. -- And the Immorality of the Mandated "Generosity" Called Health Care Reform...

polifrog

Ed Morris said of Rep. Larry Kissell's NO vote on ObamaCare:

The Daily Vampire:It may even cost him his job," Morris said. "But if he can save one life, it's a moral responsibility."

Just how moral is ObamaCare? Let's look at church attendance between nations that compel attendance to those that leave the matter to individual choice.

IN the US. church attendance rates seem wedded to around 44% while in Europe the rates often fall into the single digits depending on the nation. These low rates that plague Europe could easily be rectified by law through the use of mandatory church attendance provisions. If we assume Europe achieves attendance records of near 100% through such measures could it then be argued that Europe is more moral than the US?

The obvious answer is NO. Morality can not be forced onto a people exogenously. Although it may look like morality statistically (a near 100% church attendance), it is not a true morality and negatively affects the church and nation. Religion is cheapened, as a whole, because it is understood that most people are only there to avoid breaking the law at which point the motives of all those who attend church become questionable.

True morality, on the other hand, springs forth from within an individual through voluntary action (40%-50% church attendance in the US) to positively affect the church and nation. Although the percentage of regular church goers is less in the US, those members that choose to attend are more frequently true believers which, in turn, positively affect the respect of the church.

If we now turn to generosity we find that liberals have a penchant for mandating generosity and calling such mandates "moral" even though this is no different than mandating that the citizenry attend church. When Ed Morris says "but if he can save one life, it's a moral responsibility," he is arguing that mandated generosity through ObamaCare is a moral imperative.

In so doing, liberals loose sight of the fact that true generosity, the giving of dollars of love, with love, is lost. The dollars they gather enter the gov. by force and as such are not dollars of love. Those dollars then work their way through the soul crushing machinery of governance. Many of those dollars are skimmed off to run the bureaucracy, while others lube the gears of political leverage and influence. The dollars that remain are soulless and without love or humanity when they finally get into the hands of those who need them. These dollars do not carry with them any sense of goodwill, but are instead dollars for the sake of statistics. Liberals then point to all those soulless dollars as a metric of morality.

Government taxes are increasingly crowding charity. Dollars that may have gone to The March of Dimes or to The Red Cross or may have been used by one individual to help another are instead absorbed by government. Compare the offices of any charity to the the offices of any Government program and ask yourself if the government's overhead is moral. Compare the way dollars are received by the recipient from the gov. to the way they are received from an individual and ask yourself which is more moral. We are witnessing the death of American charity and liberals call that moral.

There is no morality in ObamaCare, only the statistical patina of morality. Legislating morality is in itself immoral and cheapens morality in America just as religion is cheapened in a nation of forced adherents.

By voting for ObamaCare, GK Butterfieldlent his support for immorality, soulless dollars and a cheapening of American morality.

Rep GK Butterfield (NC-2) -- Rationing Health-Care

polifrog

We were told there was no rationing of health-care in ObamaCare. Politics.
Common sense said otherwise.

When the trust between producer and consumer is broken market distortions occur. Such is the case within the network of laws that is ObamaCare.

Within its pages health-care producers are no longer paid by end users and instead cater to those who do pay them, the more heavily regulated new arm of the government called insurance. The end users who are not required to pay only see free health-care, thus use more of it and use it more frivolously because dollar limitations no longer exist. This stresses supply and drives up costs. Simple and based on human nature.

The only way control way for costs to be controlled when the trust between provider and consumer or end user is broken is to ration the health-care we all receive. Government boards will necessarily do the rationing and when individuals die as a result of their decision not to provide care, then those boards can rightfully be called Death Panels.

A congressman who does not see this does not deserve to be a congressman. GK Butterfield not only joined his party in the denials of Death Panels, but lent his support for them with his vote in favor of ObamaCare. Even based on the most dismal of expectations GK Butterfield has failed to serve North Carolina and should loose his seat in November.

What is it about human nature that so befuddles GK Butterfield? This question alone should mark GK Butterfield as unfit to serve in congress.

(NC-1) Rep. GK Butterfield's ObamaCare Continuing to Reveal its Awfulness...

polifrog

GK Butterfieldr of NC happily voted in support of ObamaCare and with that vote laid just as much claim to it as Pelosi, Obama and Reid. Unfortunately for GK Butterfield its awfulness continues to reveal itself. Pelosi claimed we would have to pass ObamaCare (in the rush of all rushes) to see what was in it. In that she was correct, as for those congress folks who lent their support to the little read and even less understood bill it continues to do just that.

According to CNN Money:

The new regulations, which kick in at the start of 2012, require any taxpayer with business income to issue 1099 forms to all vendors from whom they purchased more than $600 of goods and services that year. That promises to launch a fusillade of new paperwork: An estimated 40 million taxpayers will be subject to the requirement, including 26 million who run sole proprietorships, according to a report released this week by National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson.

Olson's office, which operates independently within the IRS, flagged the new reporting requirements as one of its priority issues for the next year. Like many who have delved into the details of the new rules, Olson is concerned about their far-reaching scope and potential unintended consequences.

"The new reporting burden, particularly as it falls on small businesses, may turn out to be disproportionate as compared with any resulting improvement in tax compliance," the Taxpayer Advocate Service wrote in a report released this week.

The new rules are aimed at reducing the "tax gap" between what individuals and businesses owe and what they actually pay. The federal government misses out on estimated $300 billion each year from tax underpayment. The expanded reporting requirements, which Congressslipped into the landmark health care reform bill passed in March, are an attempt to create a paper trail of 1099s exposing business-to-business payments that might otherwise stay off the radar.

But the cost of that paper trail could swamp the small companies, sole proprietors freelancers forced to generate it. Pennsylvania business networking organization SMC Business Councils surveyed its members and found that they currently average 10 filings a year of 1099 forms. The new rules would push that average to more than 200 filings per year for a typical small business, the industry group estimates.

Bad for business, bad for you, bad for GK Butterfield.

Rep. GK Butterfield (NC-1) -- On Governmental and Social Inefficiency Through ObamaCare...

polifrog

ObamaCare not only imposes its control over the health-care industry, but it reorganizes the chess board of interested parties in the heath-care industry by adding more chess pieces. Of course, government has an endless supply of chess pieces to add to the board. This, it is claimed, adds efficiency to the system thereby driving down health-care costs. GK Butterfield bought into this argument and supported ObamaCare with a vote in favor.

Here is just a third of the amorphous beast GK Butterfied supported diagrammed:

This is 1/3 of the bureaucratic maze through with somehow is gleamed efficiency and cheaper health-care. This is more than just a cart in the mind of GK Butterfield; it is art.

Here is Polifrog's artless idea of efficient health-care:

Consumer <---------> Provider

Just two players and the faith of the American people are all that is required....

GK Butterfield prefers to place his faith, not in the American people, but in the bureaucratic contrivances of governance. He has the mind of a statist and as such sees beauty in the ObamaCare tangle of bureaucracy above. The result of his vision is already raising the cost of health-care for our nation by forcing the health-care market through a sieve of bureaucratic governance and and, by definition, inefficiency.

Would John F. Kennedy and Franklin D Roosevelt have chosen to raise the cost of health-care for a nation? Would you?

When does a government program meet projected cost estimates?
Answer...When it's killed...Maybe.

Otherwise all projections are underestimations. Lies. Corporations would be held accountable for such activity, but not government.

ObamaCare is already failing to miss cost projections and it has yet to be implemented. Brad Miller felt compelled to support this program not knowing how much 'high risk pools 'might cost.

GK Butterfield (NC-1) -- Wrong on Prosperity - Wrong on the Economy...

polifrog

GK Butterfield and Obama are wrong on prosperity. Both are dragging the nation toward the failing model of a socialist state... Greece.

Currently Greece is on the receiving end of demands in exchange for a bailout.

The IMF is only one part of the bailout, but through just the IMF American tax payers are possibly on the hook for up to 50 Billion dollars in loans to bail out Greece for running their country in just the way GK Butterfield and Obama wish to run America. Not only does the American tax payer have to pay for the increasing costs of health-care due to ObamaCare, but potentially the health-care of Greece as well. Of course, this 50 Billion seems paltry compared to the 115 Billion more than 'advertised' ObamaCare will cost the tax payer.

But what demands are being foisted on Greece?

Among the most significant features of the plan, a Greek government official said, would be a measure making it easier for the government to lay off some of the many thousands of public sector workers, whose low levels of productivity and high wages are a big contributor to Greece’s debt problem. Until now, the government has not been able to lay off civil servants, whose employment rights are in effect constitutionally guaranteed.

Another reform high on the list is removing the state from the marketplace in crucial sectors like health care, transportation and energy and allowing private investment. Economists say that the liberalization of trucking routes — where a trucking license can cost up to $90,000 — and the health care industry would help bring down prices in these areas, which are among the highest in Europe.

Yea, privatize health-care.

The above corrective measures expected of Greece is nothing less than a laundry list of GK Butterfield's liberal policies of which the end result is Greek failure.

Clearly GK Butterfield embodies the relentless pursuit of debt and Greek styled misery in America.

Rep. GK Butterfield's Albatross (Hucksterism)....

polifrog

ObamaCare is GK Butterfield's vote that keeps on giving. Perhaps had he read the bill first he would not have been selling it as a path to lessening the national debt and pain at the wallet. I doubt that, though. At any rate, the passage of time is making GK Butterfield look more and more disingenuous in his hucksterism.

Now the "administration’s own actuary reported on Thursday that millions of people could lose their health insurance, that health-care costs will rise faster than they would have if the law hadn't passed, and that the overhaul will mean that people will have a harder and harder time finding physicians to see them" according to NRO.

Let us count the ways it hits the national purse (which your purse and mine)....
1. People losing coverage:
About 14 million people will lose their employer coverage by 2019, as smaller employers terminate their plans and workers who currently have employer coverage enroll in Medicaid. Half of all seniors on MedicareAdvantage could lose their coverage and the extra benefits the plans offer.

2. Huge fines for companies:
Businesses will pay $87 billion in penalties in the first five years after the fines trigger in 2014, partly because they can’t afford to offer expensive, government-mandated coverage and partly because some of their employees will apply for taxpayer-subsidized insurance.

3. Higher costs for consumers:
Tens of billions of dollars in new fees and excise taxes will be “passed through to health consumers in the form of higher drug and devices prices and higher premiums,” according to Foster. A separate report shows small businesses will be hit hardest.

4. A program created to fail:
The new “CLASS Act” long-term-care insurance program will face “a significant risk of failure,” according to Foster. Indeed, he finds, “there is a very serious risk that the problem of adverse selection will make the CLASS program unsustainable.”

5. Spending increases:
Under the new law, national health spending will increase by $311 billion over the coming decade. And instead of bending the federal spending curve down, it will move it upward “by a net total of $251 billion” over the next decade.

6. “Free-riders”:
An estimated 23 million people will remain uninsured in 2019, roughly 5 million of whom would be undocumented aliens; the remainder would be the 18 million who decline to get coverage and who will pay the penalty.

7. Spending reductions are fiction:
Estimated reductions in the growth rate of health spending “may not be fully achievable” because “Medicare productivity adjustments could become unsustainable even within the next ten years, and over time the reductions in the scope of employer-sponsored health insurance could also become an issue.”

8. You can’t keep your doctor:
Fifteen percent of all hospitals, nursing homes, and other providers treating Medicare patients could be operating at a loss by 2019, which will “possibly jeopardize access to care for beneficiaries.” Doctors are threatening to drop out of Medicare because cuts in Medicare reimbursement rates mean they can’t even cover their costs.

9. Coverage but no care:
A significant portion of those newly eligible for Medicaid will have trouble finding physicians who will see them, and the increased demand for Medicaid services could be difficult to meet.

Supporters of ObamaCare...Econ 10 flunkies. Every one of them.

Rep GK Butterfield (NC-1) -- Voted on ObamaCare without Full Info. Because Obama Hid the Info.

polifrog

Yea, common sense leads to the same conclusion that ObamaCare helps to bankrupt a nation rather than fill its coffers, but here we have the paperwork done for us.

Obama and Kathleen Sebelius sat on information released by Health and Human Services that concluded ObamaCare would actually raise costs until after the vote on ObamaCare....

Poor GK Butterfield believed the lies that Obamacare would lower the deficit despite common sense conclusions that said otherwise. Now we see that Obama's administration was sitting on information that would have informed GK Butterfield's vote on Health-Care. At any rate, GK Butterfield cast an uneducated vote impacting 1/6 of the US economy.

The American Spectator

....Sebelius's staff refused to review the document before the vote was taken.

"The reason we were given was that they did not want to influence the vote," says an HHS source. "Which is actually the point of having a review like this, you would think."

The analysis, performed by Medicare's Office of the Actuary, which in the past has been identified as a "nonpolitical" office, set off alarm bells when submitted. "We know a copy was sent to the White House via their legislative affairs staff," says the HHS staffer, "and there were a number of meetings here almost right after the analysis was submitted to the secretary's office. Everyone went into lockdown, and people here were too scared to go public with the report."
Governance through Broken Consent behind closed doors and limited information...The Obama Administration.

Poor GK Butterfield; not only did he not understand the bill he voted for, but his party leaders kept him in the dark on relevant information that may have clarified the economic impacts of ObamaCare that were beyond his common sense.

Lesson for GK Butterfield....Sometimes leadership calls for leadership and not voting Pavlov like with your party.

Update:

Yesterday, The American Spectator stood by their reporting....

Our sources stand by the facts that prior to final passage of the health care reform bill on Sunday, March 21, the Office of the Actuary had provided senior leaders inside HHS with data that indicated the then-bill would increase the cost of health care and impose higher costs on Americans. And that data was not provided to anyone publicly until after the legislation was passed.

Why conservatives and Republicans are up in arms over the report of the Medicare Office of the Actuary data is because for years, such information was routinely leaked to the drive-by media to bash a Bush Administration plan or proposal, or to embarrass a Republican official. Now, the data that would seemingly aid in -- at the very least -- generating further debate over a major increase in the size of government was nowhere in sight.

Rep. GK Butterfield (NC-1) -- Wrong on Net Neutrality...

polifrog

(h/t redstate)

Why regulate the internet? Why?
I have yet to hear a compelling reason from GK Butterfield or anyone else for regulating theinternet which has no apparent problems.

[Mr. Genachowski] wants to adopt "net neutrality" rules that require Internet providers like Comcast Corp. and AT&T Inc. to treat all traffic equally, and not to slow or block access to websites.
Have you had this issue? I haven't.

Now the push is again on after "a federal appeals court ruling last month cast doubt on the FCC'sauthority over broadband lines".
The court ruled the FCC had overstepped when it cited Comcast in 2008 for slowing some customers' Internet traffic.
Well, apparently, like Nancy Pelosi in her quest to control our health, no hurdle is too high for theFCC's quest for control.
In a move that will stoke a battle over the future of the Internet, the federal government plans to propose regulating broadband lines under decades-old rules designed for traditional phone networks.

The internet is works fine. It has been a wondrous source of vitality in the United States that reminds me of the United States of 100 years ago. It does not need to be smothered with needless regulation.

Until there is a compelling reason talk of regulation should be dropped. GK Butterfield should step back from his support for net neutrality and put his trust in the American people. That is, admittedly, difficult for GK Butterfield.

We do not need to regulate problems that exist only in the minds of those who wish only to control that which is free.

Fire GK Butterfield in November.

GK Butterfield (NC-1) -- Supporting Small Businesses With a Deluge of Paper and Regulation...

polifrog

Remember the ObamaCare tax break on small businesses? It was the sort of tax break GK Butterfield could get behind.

Here is that tax break in simplified flowchart form...

GK Butterfield's belief that this constitutes support for small business is delusional.

Delusional politicians are Bad for America, Bad for North Carolina, Bad for small business, Bad for jobs, Bad for growth.

Rep. GK Butterfield -- Forgot the state he represents...

polifrog

North Carolina sent GK Butterfield to Washington to represent not just the interests of the people of North Carolina but the interests of our great state as well.

If GK Butterfield did anything to strengthen North Carolina it has been over shadowed by the incredible pain and loss of power he inflicted on our state and its people when he threw his support behind ObamaCare.

First off, North Carolina has power reserved to by the Constitution. In fact, all states have reserved to them all powers not explicitly defined as a Federal power. (Amendment 10 of the Constitution) Up until this point North Carolina controlled health care within its boarders and could tailor that care to suit the needs of the citizens of North Carolina if it so desired. GK Butterfield, though, denied our people and NC the authority to control health care within our boarders. GK Butterfield denied our state the ability tailer its health care system to it's specific needs. But even worse, GK Butterfield abdicated that authority to our distant and unresponsive federal government.

This is not the action of a man who represents our state. This is, rather, the action of a man who represents the interests of Washington, a Washington drunk on power and ever desirous of more. GK Butterfield supports funneling powers Constitutionally reserved to North Carolina and its people away from our state to Washington. GK Butterfield is an enabler of Washington's power drunken stupor and likely addicted to it himself.

The Health Care Industry represents 1/6 of the economy. Therefore, it stands to reason that 1/6 of NC economy was simply turned over to Washington by GK Butterfield. 1/6th of North Carolina's economy is no longer under the control of North Carolina and its people!

GK Butterfield does not represent the interests of North Carolina, but rather, the interests of Washington.

GK Butterfield's lust for Washington power is greater than his love for North Carolina. GK Butterfield harms North Carolina. GK Butterfield harms the citizens of North Carlina.

We need to force GK Butterfield home for some Washington power addiction rehab. this November.
