At first blush it is disturbing to see Karl Rove and Sean Hannity at odds with one another, but it strikes me that the Republican Party is being reborn and that Karl Rove is on the wrong side of history here. That makes this a good thing.

North Carolina's Enthusiasm Gap -- We're Pretty Pissed at Obama's Governance....

I noticed this in the silly Andi Griffith poll PPP released a week ago.
This 10 point swing two months from the election does not bode well for Brad Miller, Bob Etheridge, or David Price.

I noticed this in the silly Andi Griffith poll PPP released a week ago.
One of the few takeaways is that 45% of NC voters now claim to have voted for Obama in 2008. 54% of NC voters claim to have voted for McCain in 2008. Embarrassment.Now PPP has a post comparing the various states that they have polled over the last month and NC ranks high on the dissatisfaction with Obama meter. In fact, if the election were held today Obama would loose in NC.

Town Halls? Meet-and-Greets? Are Rep. Brad Miller and Rep. Bob Etheridge a Couple of Politico's Vulnerable Democrats?

The same can be said of Brad Miller and Bob Etheridge.
Google searches of Brad Miller's site of scheduled campaign stops, town halls and meet-and-greets yield nothing but a sprinkling of year old references to canceled town halls.
Brad Miller has been in hiding and seems unwilling to face his constituents. As for our our local press, they seem content to let Miller dictate what is said about Miller, and when it is said. Ask yourself when our press reports anything about Brad Miller that is not a press release from Miller or an article from a reporter invited as a tag along to a stage-crafted Miller campaign stop.
Brad Miller has been running a stealth campaign; quietly slipping into semipublic events only made known to a select few. Of course, an unquestioning member of the press is on hand to document Miller's staged and controlled "campaign"events. They dictate Miller's message and take flattering photos for publication. Once in the papers and on-line the staged event has the look and feel of a real and flattering campaign stop. After that the same articles are reprinted in lesser publications. There was a time when the press was questioning, not any more. Examples can be found here and here.
More recently Bob "Who are you?" Etheridge has held similar events, though with less success. At one stop in Garner NC. Rep. Bob Etheridge pulled out an hour early as word spread that he was available for questioning. He cut and ran before his quiet unannounced staged event evolved into a town hall. His excuse was that his cows were wandering loose, an excuse apparently made without thinking that observers might question how he handles similar occurrences during his long visits to DC.
Another stop in Henderson produced this glowing article from HomeInHenderson.com. The visit fails due to its obvious stage-crafted presentation. From its choice of location that inherently limits the the number of adults Etheridge may encounter, to a captured audience of children who are photogenic and unlikely to ask difficult questions, this "campaign" stop was crafted. Read the article and bask in glow that is Bob Etheridge.
As for Etheridge's website, "town hall" seems to be a foreign word and there are no posted schedules indicating his desire to meet with his constituents. Like Brad Miller, Bob Etheridge seems to be unwilling to meet his constituents.
Why?
The answer is that Miller and Etheridge chose to govern through Broken Consent. The public expressed their disapproval toward Cap. & Trade and Health Care Reform, yet these two representatives saw fit to ignore their constituents. Their constituents rejected the bank bailout, yet these two decided, instead, to pick their constituents' pockets for their bank buddies. Now they claim to be "sheriffing" the banks.
These two squandered the Consent of their constituents and now childishly play hide-n-seek with them.
One can only conclude that they too can see November from their house and fear that next year they will not see January in DC.

It is one level of immoral governance to buy votes with current tax dollars, but it is beyond immoral to, with pride, buy votes on the backs of the unborn.
Bob Etheridge should be ashamed of himself ... as should we be ashamed of ourselves.

In light of the recent David Price/William Lawson poll that puts Price behind his challenger Lawson I have been comparing Brad Miller's election returns to David Price's election returns over the past 3 cycles.

The ride up is nice, but the ride back down sucks and those who feel the pain most are those who were enticed into Brad Miller's "affordable homes" (better defined as loans beyond the means of debtors).

Rep. Bob Etheridge -- Bye Constituents, I Can't Keep The Cows Waiting....

Bob Etheridge cares about Garner NC. and its citizens this much....
Rep. Brad Miller's buddy Rep. Bob "Who are you?" Etheridge took questions from selected Garner constituents this past Tuesday. The plan was to give them 2 hours, but the event was cut short by an hour due to a few errant cows owned by Etheridge.
There were those who did know Etheridge had planned a visit to Garner, Assistant Town Manager Rodney Dickerson and Garner Mayor Ronnie Williams. Of course, they were there to pump Etheridge for pork.
Politicians for the benefit of politicians.
Politicians for the benefit of cows.
Citizens neglected.

Bob Etheridge cares about Garner NC. and its citizens this much....
Rep. Brad Miller's buddy Rep. Bob "Who are you?" Etheridge took questions from selected Garner constituents this past Tuesday. The plan was to give them 2 hours, but the event was cut short by an hour due to a few errant cows owned by Etheridge.

“Some cows at the congressman’s farm got out and he had to go back to take care of that, so he had to leave about an hour early,” said Austin Vevurka, Etheridge’s press secretary.
Bob Etheridge presumably spends extended periods living in DC, so one would assume a standard procedure for caring for his cows in his absence would be in place. Apparently such precaution was not taken and the citizens of Garner suffered.
Not only did the residents suffer as a result of Etheridge's poor planning regarding his errant cows, but it seems the town was not notified of his visit. Etheridge apparently did not have time to mail "invitations" to those bestowed with the gift of meeting him. A paltry turnout ensued:
In an hour, Etheridge got only a handful of visitors inside the building’s quiet study room. His office typically relies on mailed post cards to advertise the meeting, but limits associated with the upcoming election curbed that avenue this year.
There were those who did know Etheridge had planned a visit to Garner, Assistant Town Manager Rodney Dickerson and Garner Mayor Ronnie Williams. Of course, they were there to pump Etheridge for pork.
In recent weeks, the town applied for $5,550,000 in federal grants to pay for two major projects: the construction of road improvements near the exit off I-40 and Hwy 70, and advancing plans for downtown Garner projects.

Williams believes Etheridge can be an effective advocate on Garner’s behalf as the town competes with other areas in the country for a piece of $600 million in authorized federal transportation funds.
Politicians for the benefit of politicians.
Politicians for the benefit of cows.
Citizens neglected.

Rep Brad Miller - Pushing Debt on Those Who Could Least Afford It and Resisting Sound Economic Policies...

Time and again we hear Brad Miller touting "cheap homes" or "affordable homes". These are euphemisms for indebtedness. Only the loans, due to government incentives were cheap, not the homes. Many of those "home owners" are now home less.
During the economic buildup of the early 2000s that lead to our current housing crises Brad Miller stood athwart attempts to reign in the speculation and excesses that had become stables at Fannie and Freddie Mac. In an attempt to stymie the introduction of economic soundness in the Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) Fannie and Freddie Mac, Brad Miller went on record saying:

It is outrageous that after the misery created by policies that induced unsound indebtedness among the most vulnerable of Americans, Brad Miller is continues pushing his debt slavery.

H.R. 5409, the Residential Construction Lending Act, would create a new residential construction loan guarantee program within the Department of Treasury to provide loans to builders with viable construction projects.And in his bill.

Rep. Brad Miller -- The Fruit of Our Worst Generation...

What is our worst generation? This generation.
It is a generation that rejected the success of the prior generation, the Greatest Generation, and instead embraced failure. It is a generation that rejected American Morality in favor of the non morality of Moral Relativism.
This worst generation has become the explanation point on our national slide from liberty.
What would our founding fathers think....
And that worst generation continues to destroy our common bonds...
Brad Miller and his failed governance are the fruit of that worst generation.
